Opportunity at a Glance
The Founding Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine Program Dean is responsible for the creation, implementation and administration of Chamberlain University's DVM program. The DVM Dean will provide executive leadership from creation to launch the DVM program and subsequent oversight. In partnership with the Chamberlain University Leadership team and Adtalem Home Office, the DVM Dean will develop and implement short-term and long-term strategic plans for program growth that is consistent with the mission, vision and values of Chamberlain University. As a Dean for a new program in the institution, the DVM Dean will also serve in the critical role of founding DVM Program Director for Chamberlain, will develop and oversee the DVM curriculum, and will hire, organize, supervise and direct a professional staff to ensure curricula are current and consistently delivered in an environment and manner conducive to learning in accordance with Chamberlain University's objectives.
Responsibilities
- The DVM Dean / Program Director will:
- Provide effective leadership, management, and oversight for all aspects of the DVM program to ensure a solid operational foundation.
- Recruit, interview, select, develop and supervise qualified principal and instructional faculty and administrative staff.
- Coordinate and direct curriculum planning, development, implementation and evaluation.
- Maintain and ensure program quality and integrity in compliance with established accreditation standards and guidelines.
- Coordinate certification/accreditation activities and create appropriate reports and supporting documents.
- Supervise student recruitment, selection, and admission processes.
- Oversee the review and revision of program mission, policies and procedures as needed.
- Develop, plan, and oversee program fiscal management.
- Oversee the continuous review and assessment of program curriculum assuring needed evaluation of data as related to but not limited to:
- students didactic and clinical performance throughout the program
- faculty performance and course evaluations (didactic and clinical)
- students’ performance on national exams
- demographics of applicant pool
- graduate employment status and practice characteristics of graduates
- Regularly evaluate and participate in the recruitment of clinical rotation sites.
- Develop, implement and maintain a system for faculty and staff performance evaluation, as well as faculty and staff development.
- Provide teaching and instruction in areas of expertise.
- Provide counseling and advising to students, faculty and staff.
- Ensure that all DVM personnel and student policies are consistent with federal and state statutes, rules and regulations
- Promote program research activities concerning the DVM profession and education.
- Participate in the activities of state, regional and national organizations concerned with the profession in order to promote a positive image of the DVM concept within the academic, lay, and professional communities.
- Develop and implement short-term and long-term strategic plans for program growth that is consistent with the mission, vision and values of Chamberlain University.
- Maintain certification and participate in professional development directly related to veterinary medicine education.
- Performs other duties as assigned

- PhD Veterinary Medicine Required
- 3+ years The program director must be a veterinarian with at least 3 years full-time experience in veterinary medicine higher education Required and
- Experienced Veterinary Medicine Educator who has either established a Veterinarian Program or who has assisted in the development and execution of a Veterinarian Program. Required
- The program director must be knowledgeable about program organization, administration, fiscal management, continuous review and analysis, planning, and the accreditation process.
- Possesses exceptional interpersonal skills including high proficiency in oral and written communications.
- Highly collaborative, responsive and demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills.

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $133,831.82 and $241,870.90. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
