Job Description

The Curriculum Technology Manager (CTM) leads the design, development, and maintenance of high-quality professional development courses in collaboration with multiple stakeholders and subject matter experts, advancing faculty scholarship, service, and teaching practices while aligning with evolving institutional priorities. The CTM will design learning experiences that strengthen faculty impact by integrating faculty expertise with purposeful instructional design and delivery, ensuring scalable, engaging, and high-quality professional learning opportunities for faculty across the institution. This position partners with faculty leaders and program teams to identify and evaluate emerging instructional technologies, recommend adoption where appropriate, and oversee implementation to enhance faculty learning experiences.

Instructional Design and Course Development

  • Directs course development and improvement, including scoping key activities, timelines, and resource requirements while adhering to systematic design processes.
  • Manages multiple course development projects, monitoring, measuring, and reporting progress to ensure on-time delivery with high quality and innovation.
  • Provides input on evidence-based instructional methods during the development cycle to enhance course content, improve online teaching effectiveness, and increase productivity.
  • Designs and develops multimedia for synchronous and asynchronous learning environments.
  • Ensures course materials and digital learning environments are designed in compliance with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards to support inclusive and equitable learning experiences.
  • Applies user experience (UX) design principles to gather and analyze data related to course usability, learner engagement, and instructional effectiveness, using findings for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates with appropriate teams and colleagues in reviewing and assessing curriculum to ensure alignment with intended learning outcomes.

Instructional Technology Implementation and Evaluation

  • Identifies, evaluates, and selects instructional technologies to support the effective delivery of professional development curriculum.
  • Manages the selection, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing evaluation of instructional technology to enhance course delivery.
  • Works with faculty leaders, instructional designers, and program teams to implement new instructional technologies and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Uses evaluation data, including learning engagement and achievement metrics, to examine the effectiveness of instructional technologies and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Monitors professional research and shares emerging ideas, information, and best practices with colleagues to advance technology integration.
  • Ensures the appropriate use of technology in the teaching-learning process by collaborating with teams to select or design instructional materials aligned with learning needs.

Course Quality Assurance and Resource Management

  • Manages course quality through maintenance, major corrections, and updates.
  • Manages a document repository for online courses, ensuring user-friendly file nomenclature and consistent updates of shared documents (e.g., course maps, syllabi, platform templates, and specific course materials).
  • Coordinates processes to assure faculty involvement in selecting, designing, and evaluating instructional materials.
  • Involves appropriate teams and colleagues in technology evaluation and curriculum review to ensure tools support faculty learning outcomes.
  • Obtains and uses evaluative findings to guide technology and instructional improvement initiatives annually.

Professional Development and Continuous Improvement

  • Actively pursues opportunities to learn and apply best practices in instructional design and technology implementation through research and professional development (e.g., building AI literacy and fluency to leverage and integrate AI tools in instructional design).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Learning Design and Technology, Educational Technology, or Curriculum and Instruction (with an instructional design focus) required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience designing, implementing, or managing instructional technologies or learning programs in higher education, workforce development, corporate training, or credentialing settings required.
  • Three (3) + years of experience working successfully with technology in academia required.
  • Five (5) + years of teaching experience, including a minimum of two years online preferred.
  • Preferred certifications include ATD Master Instructional Designer, CPACC (IAAP), UDL Certificate, UX Design Certificate, or LMS/authoring tool credentials (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Canvas).
  • Knowledge of current techniques and procedures used in the design, development, and delivery of curriculum and instruction.
  • Knowledge of backward design and competency-based education.
  • Demonstration of application of active learning strategies through instructional technology in prior teaching experiences.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Multimedia and audio-visual technologies such as Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Website design and development or project lifecycle methodology.
  • Excellent computer (Microsoft Office and SharePoint) and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interpret data, evaluate program and teaching effectiveness, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Demonstrated success in both campus and online teaching, with high-level training, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to develop, present, and promote projects.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to collaboration, accountability, and building an inclusive learning environment.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $70,696.34 and $127,957.05. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
