Job Description

Opportunity at a Glance
The Director, Academic Programs, BSN Online, is responsible for the operational and/or academic oversight of the online BSN program. These responsibilities include but are not limited to the direct management of operational or academic staff, delivery of a superior student experience to students enrolled in Chamberlain's program(s), ensuring continuous quality improvement in the program(s), and achieving targeted enrollment projections and student retention goals. This role develops and streamlines processes, procedures, initiatives, communications, and training to improve the interactions between multiple functional areas that support the BSN Online Program.  

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the implementation of Chamberlain University’s philosophy, mission, vision, and goals in the BSN Online Program.   
  • Tracks the key academic and business metrics used to monitor performance of the programs; consistently seeks to improve the quality and cost.
  • Plans and leads continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Communicates effectively with faculty, staff and students. Creates and maintains a college culture of mutual respect and academic and professional growth.
  • Manages and provides operational and staff support for a variety of program initiatives to ensure that the program is of high quality and delivers exceptional student service.
  • Works collaboratively with other program leaders to ensure coordination and consistency of the College’s mission, philosophy and educational outcomes across settings and programs.
  • Maintains accreditation and regulatory standards, including the timely completion of required reports.
  • Responds to questions and concerns from faculty, staff, and students. Coordinates effective, timely and well-communicated resolutions.
  • Manages the recruitment, selection, contracting, training, and evaluation of operational and/or academic staff.
  • Maintains and communicates information to appropriate stakeholders regarding current and future program initiatives.
  • Collaborates with shared services personnel and departments (i. e., faculty operations, student services, admissions, registrar, etc.) to achieve efficient and effective processes and delivery of a superior student experience.
  • Ensures efficient and effective operations in the program to meet regulatory, accreditation, and student success needs.   
  • Ensures a positive overall student experience in the online program, and continuously works to enhance the student experience.
  • Collaborates with Clinical Shared Services to ensure efficient and effective practicum operations practices, processes, and student communications.
  • Participates in industry programs and initiatives to maintain currency of program and teaching methodologies.
  • Serves on the national leadership council, national community advisory board, and other accreditation or University/College leadership teams as required.
  • Develops and manages a budget to support the implementation of the program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • DNP or PhD in Nursing or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years teaching experience at undergraduate or graduate levels. 
  • Experience in online teaching and demonstrated proficiency with online instructional technology. 
  • Minimum of three years experience as a dean, program chair, program director, or other higher education administrator. 
  • Experience managing quality improvement programs and leading business operations.
  • Experience managing geographically distributed remote teams preferred.
  • Ability to use a variety of technology applications that promote student learning and services.
  • Ability to make and effectively communicate decisions.
  • Ability to motivate, inspire excellence and build consensus.
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills, ability to communicate via email and phone effectively and operate remotely.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management, training, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels: students, faculty, leadership, external stakeholders, and staff.
  • Strong customer-service orientation and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to lead, direct, inspire, and advise staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Up to 40% travel.
  • Current licensure, certification, or authority to practice in the field of study required if applicable for the field of study. 

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $97,253.99 and $175,761.85. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
