  • HYBRID – If you reside within 50 miles of Adtalem offices in Chicago, IL, Addison, IL, Columbia, MD, Minneapolis, MN, and Miramar, FL this role is hybrid, requiring office presence three days a week (Tue, Wed, Thu), with the rest of the workweek spent working from home.
  • REMOTE – If you live over 50 miles from Adtalem offices in Chicago, IL, Addison, IL, Columbia, MD, Minneapolis, MN, and Miramar, FL, this role is remote. However, occasional office visits may be required based on business needs, with advance communication for such requests.

Job Description

The Academic Program and Field Experience Coordinator is a full-time (core) faculty member who reports to the ADII of the School of Social Work and works closely with the school’s leadership team(s), field site instructors, academic administrators, academic advising and enrollment staffs, as well as with the Office of Student Experiential Learning Service and Office of Applied Learning Agreements (OALA). The Academic Program and Field Experience Coordinator is responsible for oversight and management of the MSW & BSW field experience team, ensuring quality and adherence to policies during the field application and placement process. The supervisor oversees the BSW and MSW field application and placement operations, processes, and staff. This person holds a doctoral degree in social work (PhD or DSW) and MSW with a minimum of 2 years post-MSW social work practice experience and 1 year experience in social work field education.  

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors the implementation of policies and procedures related to the field application and placement process.  
  • Reviews and responds to student concerns related to the placement process, deadlines, and requirements, including maintaining a specialized caseload of difficult-to-place students, as needed.  
  • Manages 0-credit Field Experience Prep course, including providing guidance and support for the course, developing systems, procedures, and guidelines for monitoring student progress in the course, and providing training and support to field experience staff related to the course. 
  • Manages/supervises FECs and FEOCs in field education, including developing & implementing best practices for field experience staff, providing performance reviews, and supporting goal setting. 
  • Monitors and coordinates team tasks to ensure field timelines, registration, policies, and community of care approach are met. 
  • Creates, maintains, and executes staff onboarding systems to ensure appropriate training and quality in processes.  
  • Plans and facilitates quarterly field experience team-building activities. 
  • Facilitates weekly team meetings with FECs and FEOCs to discuss priorities, goals, processes, and system needs. 
  • Manages Meditrek for School of Social Work, including requesting updates and revisions and creating new systems as needed (applications, grading checklist, evaluations, field experience termination forms, petitions, site visit forms, supervision contracts and notes, required field experience training, etc.).
  • Participates in monthly social work field leadership meetings to provide field updates and participate in field planning/problem-solving. 
  • Oversees Skills Lab field needs and working with the director of Skills Lab to ensure sufficient Skills Lab programming. 
  • Tracks field data to assess the field placement process, effectiveness, and efficiency. 
  • Collaborates with MSW & BSW field directors to revise and update policies, procedures, field manuals, and other processes, as needed.  
  • Ensures the BSW and MSW field websites are updated and accurate and provide adequate information for students. 
  • Provides information and assistance, as needed, to Student Affairs, Field Directors, or other leaders on students who have difficulty seeking placement. 
  • Participates in quarterly University field faculty meetings to provide field updates about application/placement procedures and processes. 
  • Represents the BSW & MSW field team when collaborating with the Office of Student Experiential Learning Service and OALA on processes affecting team systems and troubleshooting specific student situations, as needed. 
  • Participates in meetings as needed with field directors, program directors and other university leadership to review procedures, policies and placement needs.  
  • Collaborates with other field departments to ensure best practices are incorporated and processes are updated. 
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure appropriate information is shared with students regarding field requirements and processes. (enrollment, SSA, etc.) 
  • Serves on School, College, and University committees as needed. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • PhD in social work or DSW. A significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field, including professional publications and conference presentations required.
  • One year of teaching experience as appropriate to the program (Social Work) required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of post MSW experience.
  • Supervising student research at the graduate level excellent leadership, communication, team participation, and human relation skills. Experience with distance learning preferred.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $70696.34 and $124230.14. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
