Company Description

Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) offers a unique program of training on the island of St. Kitts in the Caribbean. A cutting-edge curriculum, with innovative use of technologies and simulations, provides the best possible training for tomorrow’s veterinarians. Students benefit from seven semesters of integrated preclinical and clinical studies at our St Kitts campus, and one year of clinical training at our affiliate veterinary teaching hospitals in the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia.

Our ongoing research focuses on key issues strategically relevant to One Health in tropical and developing countries and includes zoonotic diseases, food safety and security, environmental health, and conservation medicine. We prioritize recruitment of talented faculty and are now seeking a key new member of our team to join us as we develop new programs to best prepare our graduates to face the global opportunities and challenges of veterinary medicine in the 21st century.
Job Description

We seek a Senior Research Professor who has a history of leading research programs that align with one or more key areas that encompasses One Health - Infectious Diseases, Tropical Veterinary Medicine, and/or Food Safety and Security. The successful applicant will have demonstrated expertise in teaching professional DVM students in clinical bacteriology, and also have the ability to instruct students in the application of that knowledge to clinical practice. 

The incoming candidate will have:

  • a primary responsibility toward research and research-related activities (~80%),
  • with limited teaching (~15%) to s upport lectures/labs in microbiology,
  • and service (~5%) duties.

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have a PhD in or related to Infectious Diseases (microbiology/bacteriology), Tropical Veterinary Medicine, or Food Security and Safety.
  • Preference will be given to candidates possessing a DVM-PhD or MD-PhD.
  • Additional requirements include,
    • a proven record of publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals,
    • an established record of success in attracting extramural funding from major global granting institutes, agencies, or programs,
    • a proactive approach to initiate collaborations with academia, industry, government, or nonprofit organizations,
    • and a passion to supervise or mentor junior faculty, undergraduate and post-graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows.
    • Technical expertise in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, and/or Biostatistics is an added advantage
