Job Description

  • Responsible for directing and leading enabling IT engineering capabilities including Integration and Data Engineering Services, Platform Engineering, Automation and QA Engineering.
  • Working collaboratively with technology teams drive automation to accelerate product delivery and ensure consistent and stable enabling IT engineering services.
  • Ensure that the technologies employed across environments including QA, Automation, Data, and Integration engineering are correctly operated through a mixture of in-house and third-party teams and services, to provide a resilient, secure, and available development and delivery platforms and that the overall strategy for core IT engineering platforms and services is defined, approved, and implemented.
  • Establish, deliver, and refine core engineering platform roadmaps to ensure that all engineering platforms and enablement services remain current, deliver value to product engineering teams, and supports the needs of internal stakeholders in terms of scalability, resilience, security, capacity, and operational maintenance.
  • Define a technology roadmap that includes deliverables focused on the continued improvement of the supported solutions and empowering a DevOps culture using automated platform capabilities underpinning customer-focused product engineering and development.
  • Lead creation of tools and automated workflow capabilities to enable our software engineers to test and promote code across the different environments and into production with maximum velocity.
  • In collaboration with Software Engineering, and colleagues in Service Management and Operations, lead and direct teams to reduce or eliminate manual or repetitive tasks, improving the end-to-end health and performance of the underlying platforms.
  • Develop and build a well-documented and centralized API estate, promoting reuse, and supporting API versioning and end-to-end lifecycle management.
  • Manage the use of data across platforms, ensuring that robust data engineering promotes and provides data to the right product and platforms at the right time for operational and analytical uses.
  • Provide an end-to-end Quality Engineering service across all technology portfolios and
  • Lead the strategic planning, development and implementation of quality engineering products, practices, and processes across the Group in accordance with quality standards and best practice guidelines.
  • Ensure adoption of modern delivery practices for quality products and services built using world class engineering practices.
  • Build, support, and maintain mission critical quality engineering products and platforms, including QA Automation.
  • Establish the mission and purpose for quality engineers in the solution domain along with the right technologies, engineering practices and metrics relevant for the quality engineering solution domain.
  • Lead Software Quality Engineering within IT this includes three distinct sub-capabilities being Functional (Test Practice & Automation), Non-Functional (Performance Engineering) and Test Data Platforms.
  • Lead definition of the strategy and drive the adoption of test automation across the organization.
  • Continuously reduce business and customer impact due to application issues by ensuring quality standards implementation, performing root cause analysis, publishing results.
  • Develop future prevention plan for the solution domain with focus on proactive technology debt remediation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  •  Bachelor's Degree Required.
  • Master's Degree in related field Preferred.
  • Twelve (12) years progressively responsible IT leadership experience leading technical engineering capabilities of Integration & Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, QA and Automation Engineering.
  • Extensive experience of running platforms within a DevOps organisation – delivering DevOps tool chain and automation.
  • Strong and demonstrable experience of developing a CI/CD pipeline and supporting technologies.
  • Proven experience of leading design and implementation of API platform management. MuleSoft (including Anypoint) is desirable.
  • Strong and demonstrable experience of managing platform security and emerging security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Can clearly articulate data engineering concepts, and is able to demonstrate these through a deep level of experience and knowledge.
  • Has demonstrable in-depth knowledge and first-hand experience with modern complex development tool chains, bug tracking systems, continuous integration, and version control systems in both commercial and open source/agile settings.
  • Strong and demonstrable software development and release engineering leadership skills.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of existing and emerging technologies, and their potential to enhance the performance and strength of the internet infrastructure.
  • Has substantial experience and expertise in agile delivery techniques and methodologies.
  • Ability to make technical decisions by staying stay abreast of advancements in related technologies.
  • A deep technical knowledge in software and systems – able to dive into details with engineers, and distill to high level for executives, customers, and non-technical audience, valuing diversity of thought and finding consensus.
  • Ability to cope in a technically complex and fast-changing environment, and to respond calmly and rationally to changing aspirations in a deadline-driven situation.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, including the ability to manage several work streams simultaneously, while balancing business priorities and quality.
  • Influential and persuasive, with the ability to enthuse and inspire multidisciplinary teams, and build successful relationships at all levels including Executive level.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $133831.82 and $241870.90. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
