Job Description

Chamberlain College of Nursing is dedicated to providing quality and accessible nursing education. We believe that exceptional care for our nursing students leads to extraordinary patient and family care. The Associate Dean, Academic Affairs, plays a pivotal role in ensuring that our curricula are current and consistently delivered to achieve superior student outcomes, all while embodying the Chamberlain Care™ philosophy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Faculty Development:

    • Lead the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of qualified faculty and staff.
    • Monitor and evaluate faculty and staff performance, ensuring alignment with best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Curriculum and Academic Excellence:

    • Ensure learning experiences align with the BSN curriculum and collaborate with the national team for implementation.
    • Work with national academic committees to set and achieve academic goals and projects.
    • Develop and implement plans to enhance student success, including retention, graduation rates, and NCLEX pass rates.
  • Student and Faculty Support:

    • Focus on student satisfaction and collaborate with local and national partners to achieve superior outcomes.
    • Evaluate course resources and assessment data, providing recommendations to improve student success plans.
    • Support faculty in implementing changes to meet evolving student needs and ensure program outcomes.
  • Mentorship and Professional Development:

    • Serve as a mentor to faculty and staff, promoting academic excellence, customer service, and professionalism.
    • Ensure faculty are oriented and held accountable to teaching best practices through regular evaluations and feedback.
  • Operational and Strategic Planning:

    • Create and monitor processes for faculty participation in national course advisory councils.
    • Collaborate on academic budget recommendations and prepare capital requests for learning areas.
    • Support clinical coordination teams in securing clinical placements for nursing students.
  • Communication and Collaboration:

    • Facilitate regular meetings with faculty and the academic team to ensure effective communication and curriculum planning.
    • Assign workloads to faculty and the academic team, ensuring balanced and effective distribution of responsibilities.
    • Collaborate with national library staff to manage local holdings.
  • Data Analysis and Continuous Improvement:

    • Monitor and analyze student academic success data to identify areas for improvement.
    • Engage in student success interventions to enhance curriculum delivery.
  • Teaching and Additional Duties:

    • Teach up to three courses per year.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Educational Requirements:

    • A Master’s degree in Nursing is required.
    • A Doctorate degree in Nursing or progress toward a Doctorate degree is preferred.
  • Licensure:

    • Must hold an unencumbered professional nursing license.
  • Experience:

    • A minimum of two years of experience in nursing education at the Bachelor’s level or higher.
    • Experience in the development and participation in simulation and clinical experiences.
    • Three to five years of experience in acute patient care, trauma, emergency, and/or medical-surgical environments is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Leadership and Interpersonal Skills:

    • Previous leadership experience with the ability to lead, direct, and advise faculty.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to resolve conflicts effectively.
    • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Customer Service Orientation:

    • A strong orientation towards customer service with the ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff at all levels.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $70,696.34 and $127,957.05. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
