Job Description

Opportunity at a Glance
The Director for the Office of Exam Center and Assessment (Medical Education) will serve as a member in the Department of Medical Education (DME), will contribute 1.0 FTE effort to the duties and responsibilities expected for this position, and will report to the Associate Dean of Curriculum (Medical Education) in this capacity. The incumbent will work in collaboration with other colleagues in the DME, academic faculty, Department Chairs and Assistant Chairs (primarily Biomedical Foundations, Clinical Foundations and Community Medicine and Global Health), Discipline Leads, Semester Leads, Module Directors, Academy of Teaching and Learning (ATL) staff, Office of Student Disability (OSD) and operational offices (primarily Registrar, Data Analytics etc) to assure the delivery of a high quality assessment that will provide our diverse students the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to become highly competent and successful physicians, and lead to exceptional professional outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight for exam design, exam creation, administration & management (Proctors/readers engagement, training etc).
  • Provide oversight and coordination of schedules to develop and report on assessments to facilitate the work of various stakeholders;
  • Provide leadership role in assessment research efforts, and working collaboratively with deans, department chairs, faculty, the Office of Student Affairs and the Academic Learning Environment to achieve the University’s goals for robust assessment leading to increased student retention and graduation rate
  • Item banking & Database management: ExamSoft/Examplify; NBME; Scholar Rx.
  • Provide oversight of the operations of the Exam Center. Leadership and motivation; recruitment, workflows, and capacity building;
  • Training/Capacity-building for faculty:
  • Orientation; support research; informing leadership decision-making;
  • Training: Colleagues, IT, Faculty (Quality Assurance in the exam process, Item writing/editing, standard maintenance, Assessment for Learning, ExamSoft). Strong liaison with Module and Course Directors/Semester Leads. Assist and train faculty in the navigation of assessment software and use of longitudinal data;
  • Maintenance of system for recording student attendance and conduct and ensure that relevant annotations are made in the Insight platform
  • Managing resolution of student and faculty queries about grades and request for psychometric support - especially in relation to gradebooks and summaries;
  • Documentation of quality managements system and in support of accreditation and legal requirements: Policies, SoPs, performance records;
  • Design and maintenance of systems for physical and electronic security; collaboration with Security and Operations to maintain optimal testing environment;
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Required or
  • PhD Preferred
  • 5+ years assessment in higher technical education (preferably medical education) Required
  • Familiar with the curriculum of MD program
  • Should have good knowledge of statistics, able to do psychometric analyses
