Job description
About Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine
Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM), an Adtalem Global Education institution, prepares students to become veterinary leaders by drawing connections among animals, people and the planet, as a member of the One Health Initiative. RUSVM offers research programs focused on emerging infectious and zoonotic diseases, conservation medicine and ecosystem health. RUSVM has graduated more than 6,000 students and offers postgraduate master’s, PhD, and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) programs accredited by the St. Christopher & Nevis Accreditation Board and the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education. RUSVM is located on St. Kitts and includes the Ross University Veterinary Clinic, accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association.
In our U.S. locations, we operate on a hybrid work model with three in-office days and two remote days per week. Starting Q1 2025, we will transition to a four-day in-office schedule, Monday–Thursday. This in-office time fosters creativity, innovation, communication, and stronger team relationships, supporting both individual and organizational success.

Overview
The Department of Biomedical Sciences at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) seeks applications at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in Biomedical Sciences with a background in Veterinary Physiology. Accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), RUSVM offers an accelerated DVM program in a unique environment on the island of St. Kitts in the Eastern Caribbean. Students benefit from a diverse and talented faculty who integrate contemporary teaching tools and simulations with innovative technologies that encompass seven sequential semesters of preclinical and clinical courses at our St Kitts campus prior to one year of clinical training at one of our many globally placed affiliate veterinary teaching hospitals.
Our Research Program embraces the global concept of One Health, which is supported by intramural grant funding and encompasses animal, human, and environmental health and conservation. Moreover, our research program is supported by a strategy that includes four Research Centers providing opportunities for faculty and students to engage in collaborative research encompassing Zoonoses and Tropical Veterinary Medicine, Integrative Mammalian Research, Conservation Medicine and Ecosystem Health, and Veterinary and Medical Educational Research. In addition, our graduate program provides opportunities for faculty and students to receive advanced training in our MSc or PhD programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have a primary role in teaching in our DVM program involving a team approach to Veterinary Physiology. The candidate will have full responsibility as instructor and course coordinator for Physiology I (Semester 1) and have continuity with Physiology II (Semester 2). Additional opportunities may include teaching in other areas such as Clinical Reasoning, Veterinary Professionals Program, or other relevant disciplines. Major responsibilities include course administration, in-classroom lectures, and evaluation of student success associated with periodic examinations and guidance as needed.
In addition to a strong commitment to teaching, the successful applicant will be expected to develop and/or contribute to a collaborative Research Program and participate in the Graduate Program. Major outputs will include publications, grant funding, and supervision of veterinary student research assistants and/or graduate students.
Administrative and services duties are aligned with our annual performance goals and objectives. These may include participating as a member of various campus academic and/or operational committees, serving as advisor or mentor to one of many student clubs or organizations, or playing a role in community outreach.
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree preferred but a PhD in Physiology with relevant experience and knowledge in various areas of Biomedical Sciences (neurology, endocrinology, metabolism, cardiology) will be considered.
Candidates will have good writing and communication skills with ability to promote a culture of collegiality, diversity, equity, and inclusiveness across campus.
