Job Description

UK Track - Clinical Education Fellow
Location: USA Remote
 
The Clinical Education Fellow (CEF) position will assist students in their medical sciences education and early clinical training while creating a sense of connectedness among students and the University campus in Preston UK.  This position is responsible for facilitating the Years 1 and 2 Clinical Medicine (CM) and providing academic support for students taking medical sciences.
 
*Note: position is for American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC) 2022/2023 graduates ONLY

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as tutor, coach and mentor for students as they undertake CM 1-5 courses, including providing expectations and general guidance for NBME Shelf and Step 1 exams.
  • Provide educational instruction through small group classroom instruction within online learning platforms such as Blackboard, Canvas and Microsoft Teams / Zoom
  • Facilitate synchronous and asynchronous communication with cohorts of AUC students during their CM clinical training.
  • Act as an assessor in the (virtual) OSCE assessment of students.
  • Contribute to a culture of academic achievement, compassion and professionalism.
  • Monitor and promote students’ use of learning resources and facilitate students’ ongoing use of learning platforms, the use of simulated patient encounters and clinical instruction.
  • Create a sense of connectedness among student cohorts and AUC through ongoing engagement.
  • Facilitate small group discussions and encourage reflective practice.
  • Refer students to the appropriate departments and resources for academic and well-being support and advice. 
  • Support students who are off-track through the online learning enhancement course (LEC).
  • Personify the TEACH values of AUC and complete other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

  • Must be a recent AUC graduate
  • Must have the M.D. degree and completion of all rotations
  • Satisfactory or better grade in 5th semester
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Strong teaching skills and experience or evidence of potential
  • Desire for self-improvement
  • Flexibility and ability to work well on a team
  • Must demonstrate exceptional professionalism

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $19.45 and $31.82. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
