Opportunity at a Glance


This position manages multiple projects and implementation activities across function as well as other business units, as necessary. Assists in projects typically focused on managing activities associated with new, changed, and discontinued programs, policies, and other strategic business initiatives. This position will work collaboratively and cross-functionally to ensure a streamlined approach to change management and to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of bringing products and services to market that support business goals and objectives. The individual may also work closely with consultants and other third-party vendors, when necessary. 

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes projects to determine functions and resources needed or involved, implications to the business, and opportunities to include in project scope. 
  • Identifies necessary approvals related to planning and implementation activities.  Provides guidance to business leaders on how to seek approvals. 
  • Researches and interprets policies, guidelines, etc. and incorporates these into implementation plans and execution efforts. 
  • Partners with Walden leadership on project prioritization based on various factors including business goals, resource scheduling, marketing and recruitment window, market, and business readiness, etc.  Makes recommendations on resulting priority sequences. 
  • Facilitates the movement of projects through a stage-gate process, surfacing issues, risks and recommendations to the leadership team at each of the approval gates.  
  • Initiates, authors and provides thorough and timely communications regarding the planning and status of multiple projects to core team members, appropriate stakeholders and Walden leadership.
  • Analyzes and researches issues and problems; identifies and recommends solutions; implements as appropriate. 
  • Manages project and related implementation activities according to project plans in a matrix organization. 
  • Coaches and collaborates with team members in support of the achievement of the project.
  • Communicates project progress, opportunities and issues to stakeholders, especially related to impact of changes in project resources, scheduling, scope, and delivery. 
  • Works closely and cross-functionally with stakeholders involved to ensure smooth implementation. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Master's Degree in Business or Project Management preferred.
  • Portfolio Management Professional (PMP) desired/preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma desired/preferred.
  • 5 + years of full lifecycle project management experience including knowledge of PMBOK or other equivalent methodology required.
  • Experience in an academic enterprise preferred. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve issues and determine effective business and alternative solutions. 
  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to advance projects while managing multiple initiatives. 
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Ability to interact with all levels within the organization and work in a fast paced environment with many initiatives. 
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Proficient with project management practices and tools.
  • Capability to influence and instill credibility in sponsors, peers and subordinates by meeting project milestones, deadlines, and budget.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $68,637 and $124,230. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
