Job Description

  • HYBRID – If you reside within 50 miles of Adtalem offices in Chicago, IL, Addison, IL, Columbia, MD, Minneapolis, MN, and Miramar, FL this role is hybrid, requiring office presence three days a week (Tue, Wed, Thu), with the rest of the workweek spent working from home.
  • REMOTE – If you live over 50 miles from Adtalem offices in Chicago, IL, Addison, IL, Columbia, MD, Minneapolis, MN, and Miramar, FL, this role is remote. However, occasional office visits may be required based on business needs, with advance communication for such requests.

The Senior Manager, Global Impact & Empower Scholarship Fund ("Sr. Mgr.") leads, manages and provides recommendations for the Empower Scholarship Fund ("ESF"), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization which provides scholarships to students attending schools affiliated with Adtalem Global Education (Adtalem). The Sr. Mgr. reports to the Director, Global Impact & Sustainability and is an active member of Adtalem's Global Impact team. Positioned within the Global Communications & Corporate Affairs department, the Sr. Mgr. partners with team and department leaders, as well as key contacts at Adtalem's institutions, to leverage ESF as an avenue for telling Adtalem's global impact story. Responsible for the planning and implementation of best-practice strategies and programs that increase ESF engagement, the Sr. Mgr. collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to foster a culture of philanthropy across Adtalem and its family of institutions, while enhancing relationships with new and existing donors to grow ESF support of students.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with Director, Global Impact & Sustainability, develop and implement a strategy for growing ESF through storytelling and engagement across donor audiences (colleagues, alumni, corporate partners, affinity partnerships and more).
  • Align ESF efforts with Adtalem’s broader Global Impact and Sustainability strategies to advance holistic, large-scale partnerships and engagement.
  • Increase internal and external stakeholder engagement and collaborate across the Global Communications & Corporate Affairs department to better highlight the impact of ESF through intentional and strategic communications.
  • Oversee expanded donor engagement through various communications and events, such as website and blog content, recipient profiles, ESF and Sustainability annual reports, social media, fundraising events, and ongoing email communications.
  • Proactively engage prospective ESF partners as a compelling spokesperson to convey scholarship funding opportunities and design appropriate solutions to meet identified needs.
  • Support and partner with the ESF board of directors in the stewardship of the Fund and management of board meetings, as well as to foster ESF board engagement.
  • Provide regular and detailed reporting to stakeholders on achievement of milestones and associated metrics.
  • Facilitate the scholarship review and award process, creating and implementing practices that enhance the experience for both scholarship applicants and recipients, as well as review committee volunteers.
  • Oversee data systems and analyses to ensure proper gift processing and recording.
  • In conjunction with ESF board and officers, oversee ESF finances, including management of endowment funds, developing annual expense and scholarship budgets, and tracking scholarship expenditures.
  • Oversee internal and external reviews for audit, finance, regulatory compliance, legal and other partners to ensure the proper reporting and compliance with non-profit, tax, corporate and institutional rules and requirements.
  • Manages and provides strategic direction and guidance to direct report(s).
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field, or equivalent experience Required
  • 7+ years in nonprofit development or fundraising, community partnerships, or scholarship fund management. 
  • Experience in a matrixed organization or with corporate sustainability or social impact practices.
  • Demonstrated history of growing a donor base.
  • Track record of managing direct report(s) and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated project management skills to deliver results.
  • Strong problem-solver and proven critical thinking, analytical skills.
  • Thorough attention to detail and follow-through with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Flexible and action-oriented, with an ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Works well under pressure in an extremely fast-paced environment; possess a strong work ethic and sound judgement.
  • A storytelling mindset, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Contributes to a culture of innovation, social impact and exemplary organizational performance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and familiarity with donor and scholarship management systems such as Little Green Light (LGL), AwardSpring, MobileCause and others.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $77,996.84 and $140,851.54. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
