Opportunity at a Glance
The Sr Manager, Alumni Engagement will directly manage an active and supportive community that strengthens the alumni network through volunteer development, alumni services, alumni communication and outreach, educational programming, and events with the goal of continuous and meaningful involvement and engagement of alumni.
Reporting to the Vice President, Alumni Engagement, the Sr Manager, Alumni Engagement is responsible for the design, implementation and evaluation of progressive alumni engagement strategies that build enduring and mutually beneficial relationships, inspire loyalty and financial support, strengthen the institution's reputation, and engage our alumni in meaningful activities to advance those institutions. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional organizational skills, including expertise in project leadership and relationship management. He or she will have a demonstrated track record of building and maintaining a robust alumni program and must have the poise and ability to build relationships with multiple constituents, influence action, and achieve results.
Responsibilities
- Implement a comprehensive and inclusive alumni strategy that engages alumni and creates rewarding experiences designed to foster lifelong connections between alumni and the institution.
- Develop and deploy activities valued by alumni, including event management, digital platforms oversite, and volunteer programs with outcomes focused on building relationships and brand loyalty.
- Work across functional areas to identify, recruit, and engage alumni in meaningful activities with students, staff, and each other to enhance admissions and student success and to advance the institution’s missions.
- Manage alumni engagement in the student experience, including managing online platforms for student mentorship and prospective student outreach and sourcing alumni speakers for student initiatives.
- Identify, cultivate, and steward alumni volunteers. Implement alumni awards and recognition program.
- Plan, organize, and help execute in-person and virtual alumni events such as alumni receptions, reunions, student events, campus visits, conferences, and graduation.
- Strategize, recommend and implement new tactics and initiatives to increase brand awareness and alumni engagement.
- Partner with global communications to share the story our alumni community.
- Support efforts to accelerate the brand strategy by sourcing and leveraging alumni stories to showcase our global community of lifelong learners.
- Coordinate and support communications for alumni, including university announcements, eNewsletters, alumni stories and profiles, social media posts, and online community group posts and announcements.
- Develop and manage an alumni leadership council/advisory board; design the group’s objectives, host regular meetings (virtual and in-person), record minutes, and report on activity and progress to university stakeholders.
- Ensure a positive online experience for alumni by working with the technology, marketing, and communication teams to ensure fresh, relevant content on alumni webpages and related online groups.
- Track alumni engagement and ROI, compile metrics and analytics, and prepare progress reports.
- Support efforts to maintain an up-to-date alumni database; provide reporting to university stakeholders when requested.
- Manage budget related to the institution's alumni engagement activities.
- Raise internal awareness of the alumni engagement efforts through project leadership and collaboration and clearly articulating the alumni program's value, benefits, and goals.
- Establishes and builds relationships with institutional alumni, maintaining regular communication with them.
- May supervise senior coordinator or specialist, alumni engagement.
- Contribute to Alumni Engagement goals by supporting other duties and projects as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with all policies and standards
- Bachelor's Degree required in business, marketing, communications or other related field
- Master's Degree preferred
- 7+ years experience in a marketing or relationship management role
- Previous alumni relations or related community management/higher education experience preferred
- Experience using alumni management platforms or integrated student information systems preferred
- Proven leadership skills particularly in starting new initiatives, launching successful direct marketing/outreach programs, fundraising or membership organizing activities.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- PC skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, database applications and internet applications.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects and due dates
- Ability to travel 3 – 4 times per year (valid passport is required for Ross Vet)
- Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings to support alumni events
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $77996.84 and $140851.54. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
