Job Description

  • Accountable for delivery of all aspects of IT software engineering to the Group, across a complex work program of projects & initiatives, applications enhancements and support and covering the entire software engineering and development lifecycle.
  • Develop and implement a technology roadmap for software engineering and underlying technologies in collaboration with IT Architecture and IT Strategy.
  • Manage the complexity in stakeholder management which arises from the need to influence senior leadership across all IT departments to deliver optimum and effective IT software solutions and act as the single point of ownership for all in-house as well as externally sourced software engineering services delivered to and across the entire Group.
  • Drive reduction in complexity of software engineering, standardization and re-use and deliver continuous efficiency through the use of accelerators and frameworks.
  • Plan, manage and implement effective workforce and resource management practices to optimize resource utilization and costs and set up a resource structure to deliver quality and timely software engineering and technical testing services. Accountable for the Software Engineering capability and competence levels across IT as well as overall responsibility for the quality of all software development, enhancement and maintenance deliverables across the IT work program.
  • Responsible for advancing the modernization of Adtalem's sales, service and customer engagement platforms in alignment with our core business objectives and target state IT architecture.
  • Provide technical leadership to a dynamic team throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's in a related field preferred (years of experience will be considered). 
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience managing software engineering teams in consumer Web or SaaS products. Strong familiarity with SaaS software development best practices and development cycle.
  • Experience leading geographically distributed software engineering organization comprised of multiple teams.
  • Strong technical background that allows you to understand, advocate for and support your engineers and engineering leaders. Familiarity with cloud technologies: experience with hands-on coding and software development.
  • Experience leading a team in Salesforce platform development, product development, Mobile app development, software development or a rapid delivery of next-generation digital products.
  • Experience building strong partnerships with other IT functions to keep teams collaborating smoothly and working together to improve the product. 
  • Ability and desire to understand the architecture and design of complicated SaaS systems and to get hands-on with data and analysis as necessary. Experience in Agile Software methodologies - Scrum, Kanban, etc. 
  • Ability to manage and maintain complex global software deployments at scale. Confidence when dealing with the full technology stack in domains of Data Systems & Pipelines, Distributed Services, and front-end (API/UI), as well as cloud-based technologies.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $97,253.00 and $175,761.00. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
