Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM), an Adtalem Global Education institution, prepares students to become veterinary leaders by drawing connections among animals, people and the planet, as a member of the One Health Initiative. In our U.S. locations, we operate on a hybrid work model with three in-office days and two remote days per week. Opportunity at a Glance

Ross Preparatory is seeking a caring, attentive and patient Early Childhood Assistant to work in the Early Childhood area of the Prep School. The detail-oriented candidate will work with children from birth to 5 years old. The Early Childhood Assistant will support the lead teacher and the Early Childhood Coordinator in conducting daily duties such as preparing and serving meals, changing diapers, writing daily reports, recording attendance, engaging in play, assisting in putting children to sleep, monitoring children during indoor and outdoor activities and creating a safe environment

Responsibilities

  • Implement a developmentally appropriate, child-centered curriculum for children younger than six years of age that meets their needs in all domains and areas of the curriculum, including Language Arts and STEAM.
  • Prepare and maintain the classroom environment to enhance the health, safety, and development of each child in the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive domains.
  • Contribute to a professional learning community which is dynamic, relevant, creative and positive
  • Demonstrate effective positive guidance techniques to enhance each child’s development and maintain an effective learning environment to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Monitor children for health, behavioral, and emotional concerns, and report any issues to the Early Childhood Coordinator and Principal
  • Ensuring that the legal guidelines and health and safety policies are followed at all times
  • Work with diverse children and their families and develop mutually respectful relationships
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    • Complies with all policies and standards

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma Required
    • 1+ year years of experience in a setting providing early care and education Required
    • An energetic personality with the ability to engage young children in a creative manner
    • Excellent team player skills with a strong ability to work effectively and support other members of the team
    • The ability to prepare materials for and follow a plan for developmentally appropriate activities for young children
    • Ability to interact with young children to ensure their health, safety, social, emotional and cognitive well-being
    • Effective verbal communication skills, in tone and usage, to support the development of language in young children, and inspire confidence in their family
    • The physical ability to lift and carry young children up to 40 pounds
    • The physical ability to sit at a level that meets infants, toddlers and older children at their eye level, either on the floor or in a very low chair
