Job Description

The Associate Dean is responsible for assisting the program dean with the development, operation, and continuous improvement of the program. These responsibilities include but are not limited to curriculum management, course development, program assessment, program delivery, student affairs and services, faculty operations, faculty supervision, practicum experience oversight, regulatory and accreditation compliance, and the management of student learning experiences.  In the absence of the program dean, this position will assume responsibility for delivery of the program. 

In this role you will: 

  • Supervise assistant deans, faculty managers, faculty, and other staff in the provision of program curricula and services.
  • Lead or support curriculum and course review, assessment, improvement, development, and implementation, including updates, revisions, and redevelopments as needed.
  • Direct multiple program stakeholders in a variety of projects to achieve program goals and superior student outcomes.
  • Work across teams to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of program and course delivery, faculty operations, practicum operations, and academic support services as assigned.
  • Work closely with the program dean, faculty, web development managers, clinical shared services, accreditation and regulatory teams, the instructional design team, other ATSO teams, consultants, and third-party vendors as needed to ensure effective program delivery and superior student outcomes.
  • Develop and execute action plans to maintain program accreditation.
  • Prepare, evaluate and communicate student success metrics, including student retention, graduation rates, certification pass rates, student achievement of learning outcomes, and student satisfaction, and work with team members to ensure superior student outcomes.
  • Lead or support Clinical Shared Services, the program dean, faculty, and staff to enhance practicum placement and practicum experiences to meet program objectives.
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection, orientation, evaluation and supervision of qualified faculty and staff as needed for the program.
  • Participate in various committees as assigned and provide input for policy development that impacts program academics; communicate with academic committees to ensure that appropriate goals and projects are implemented.
  • Solicit and share recommendations from faculty and staff for academic budget and implement and manage assigned budget areas.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor faculty and students in areas of academic excellence, customer service, collaboration, communication, and professionalism.
  • Ensure regular meetings of the faculty to facilitate communication and faculty participation in planning, implementing, and evaluating the curriculum.
  • Perform the functions of the program dean in his/her absence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree in the program field required in graduate programs.
  • Master's Degree in the program field required in undergraduate programs. 
  • 3 years’ experience in education, training, or staff development at the baccalaureate level or above.
  • 2 years’ online teaching experience.
  • Experience with curriculum development and curriculum management preferred.
  • Proficiency with online instructional technology applications and Microsoft Office and the ability to use a variety of technology applications that promote student learning and services.
  • Previous leadership experience required with experience in higher education leadership preferred with the ability to lead, direct, and advise faculty.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal, organizational, time management, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels: students, faculty, leadership, and staff.
  • Strong customer-service orientation and customer-service skills.
  • In programs that require graduates to obtain licensure to practice, candidate must hold the required license.
  • In programs that require graduates to obtain additional certification to practice, candidates must hold those certifications as well. 

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $77,996.84 and $140,851.54. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
