Job Description

OPPORTUNITY AT A GLANCE

This position supports the development and use of innovative immersive virtual simulation learning environments that promote educational and career success.  The specialist aids in the design of technology platforms through research, testing, and integration of various audiovisual components (video conferencing, computers, displays, audio, etc.). The specialist helps coordinate the deployment of immersive virtual simulation technology to internal customers and external vendors (architects, audiovisual vendors, equipment manufacturers).


RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist the Solutions Manager in designing and implementing technologically-advanced immersive virtual simulation student learning environments.
    • Integrate hardware and software products into unified technology platforms.
    • Coordinate technology deployments with internal departments and external vendors.
    • Maintain engineering, construction, installation, and training schedules for technology projects.
    • Evaluate and pilot test new products and techniques as they become available.
    • Track and evaluate success data and other feedback to improve services and resources.
    • Work with staff across departments to deliver technology training and support.
    • Assist in developing academic technology strategy to achieve student success and faculty needs and organizational goals.
    • Research trends in appropriate technology areas and recommend emerging technologies for immersive virtual simulation classroom use.
    • Support University programs that impact student and faculty use of technology (student laptops, wearable technology including headsets (head mounted displays), etc.).
    • Operate in coordination with other university academic technology initiatives.
    • Completes other duties as assigned.
    • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree required.
    • 3 years of previous immersive virtual learning technologies experience.
    • Diverse knowledge of computer, audiovisual, and distance immersive virtual learning technologies: Adobe suite including premiere, Unity and/or Unreal Engine, animation applications such as Blender, Maya, Gimp, and media development including photo and video manipulation.
    • Ability to understand technical specifications, electrical schematics, and architectural plans.
    • Demonstrated leadership abilities and strong communication skills.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $47,766 and $86,253. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
