We are looking for a forward-thinking, seasoned leader with a track record of success in alumni engagement and team management to fill the position of Vice President (VP) of Alumni Relations for Adtalem Global Education and for the one of the world's largest medical and healthcare alumni communities, which include graduates from Chamberlain University, Ross University School of Medicine, Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, AUC School of Medicine and Walden University. Under an empowering, entrepreneurial management philosophy the Vice President of Alumni Relations will report to the SVP, Chief Communications Officer and will have strategic oversight of a team that is responsible for the engagement of Adtalem's alumni community, comprised of over 300,000 alumni globally. The Vice President will lead a centralized function that supports each of our institutions in programmatically developing and deploying activities that are valued by our alumni, builds enduring and mutually beneficial relationships, inspires loyalty and financial support, strengthens our institutions' reputation, and engages our alumni in meaningful activities to advance those institutions' respective missions. She/He will partner with Institutional Leadership to evolve our Alumni segment strategy and execution plan to increase market penetration, brand advocacy and Alumni sentiment. This role will provide expertise, vision, and leadership to define and implement Alumni relationship programs that successfully engage alumni and serve donors in better ways while building mutually beneficial long-term relationships. The candidate must be a strategic thinker who can create innovative ways to inspire engagement among our vast and diverse alumni community that anticipates future opportunities, uncovering and resolving unmet segment needs across the Adtalem portfolio of institutions.
Responsibilities
- The VP of Alumni Relations creates, plans and implements a comprehensive and inclusive alumni strategy that engages alumni and creates rewarding engagement experiences that are designed to foster lifelong connections between alumni, Adtalem Global Education and its five institutions.
- Lead the development and execution of a dynamic alumni strategy, including specific objectives, implementation strategies and associated metrics to measure advocacy, acquisition, and ROI
- Formulate alumni engagement strategies to increase acquisition, retention, public advocacy, and mentorship
- Collaborate with senior leadership to create, implement and maintain fundraising committees and alumni board structures to support alumni engagement and development initiatives
- Creates programming and other initiatives that supports a complete understanding of the Adtalem and its institutions mission, goals, and priorities and offers diverse opportunities for engagement.
- Plan and implement fully integrated calendar to orchestrate alumni programs such as on-campus programming (including Homecomings & Class/Program Reunions) and regional events in-line with key brand and customer moments
- Design and execute large-scale, broad initiatives across all institutions and alumni groups with the ultimate goal of providing increased support for the Empower Scholarship fund and other financial and in kind support
- Lead efforts to gather, analyze and socialize actionable insights on our alumni community through dedicated research, outreach, and assessment
- The VP is a member of the Global Communications leadership team and sets the vision for alumni communications.
- Identify purposeful loyalty messaging that establishes lifetime value for alumni members and ensures a strong customer-centric viewpoint
- Oversee and strategically govern communication to alumni, employing best practices in communications, while showing continuous improvement and innovation across all channels
- Accelerate brand strategy, sourcing and leveraging alumni stories to showcase our global community of lifelong learners
- Establish and build relationships with institutional alumni; maintain regular communication with Alumni
- Provides oversight and executive direction to the alumni team while working collaboratively across a matrixed organization with both internal and external stakeholders
- Develop, lead, mentor and motivate a high-quality team prepared to meet the ongoing challenges of engaging a diverse and talented community of alumni
- Assess current staff capacity and recruit new staff as necessary
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Bachelor's Degree Required
- 15+ years working in alumni administration, development, or experience in a related field Required
- 5+ years of executive leadership experience managing an alumni team in a large matrixed university system
- Proven success in creating and optimizing campaigns grounded in data and insights that have driven performance lift.
- Proven ability to recruit, mentor, motivate and lead a strong, cohesive, and high-performing team; the managerial skills to establish a team-and goal-oriented environment, providing vision and encouraging innovation; and the ability to empower staff through active communication and delegation, building confidence, promoting diversity of thought and celebrating achievements
- Possess a self-confident, self-motivated style that can enliven, engage, and positively impact individuals and groups
- Sound judgment, thoughtfulness, and attention to detail; the ability to think strategically and act decisively as well as the ability to respond quickly to changing business needs and priorities; and a strong work ethic.
- Exceptional written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, and superb organizational skills.
- Ability to develop and foster relationships with people at all levels of a matrixed organization, and to collaborate and influence at a high level.
- The ability to create and lead innovative programs attuned to diverse demographics.

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $159,328.72 and $288,104.20. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
