Job Description

This position will manage a large and complex portfolio of IT work spanning Faculty, Partner, Innovation and Technology Portfolios. The candidate will be responsible for providing an executive view of the work being performed, including risks, mitigations, financials and short- and long-term plans. She / he will directly or indirectly lead and influence IT staff to create and maintain a portfolio roadmap for a 3-24month horizon. The position will lead portfolio quarterly planning and influence the portfolio body of IT work.   

  • Ownership and coordination of financial budget planning (CapEx and OpEx spend) - including tracking and reporting.
  • Performance reporting and ownership on portfolio work which is delivered in a combined agile and nonagile manner. Inclusive of status, financials, risks, capacity/resource.
  • Lead process improvement for Portfolio management – develop and mature portfolio management with a team of peer portfolio managers.
  • If applicable, directly supervise, provide feedback, manage performance and lead a team of junior portfolio/program managers.
  • Work with IT leaders and drive appropriate portfolio prioritization
  • Create and maintain a portfolio forecast.
  • Drive portfolio management best practices and work with Delivery leaders, Scrum masters and IT Senior leaders to implement.
  • Ensure cross portfolio constrains and dependencies are captured and mitigated by working collaboratively with peer portfolio managers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


 


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, related field Required or equivalent industry experience required.
  • Master's Degree Preferred
  • Ten (10) years of IT Program/Portfolio management experience.
  • Ten (10) years of IT Project, Program and/or Portfolio management experience with exposure to both Waterfall and Agile ways of working.  
  • Five (5) years IT Management experience including strategic leadership, business relationship management and financial tracking. 
  • Five (5) years experience managing IT budgets, costs, financials and forecasting. 
  • Advanced knowledge of IT Project, Program and Portfolio management, and measurement of portfolio progress. 
  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Agile work management systems like Jira/Azure DevOps/Rally or similar and Project Management systems like Microsoft Project or similar. 
  • Ability to think critically, prioritize effectively, deliver meaningful results and inspire others. 
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions including effective communication, risk management, and risk-based decision-making. 
  • Ability to mentor and develop staff. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a consultative role with other Senior Technology Managers and IT Executive Leadership. 
  • Proven ability to communicate professionally in a corporate environment, work in cross-functional collaborative teams and implement organizational change management.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $77,996.84 and $140,851.54. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
