Job Description

Opportunity at a Glance
This role will serve as a champion for students, actively promoting opportunities for them to thrive in a supportive, safe and healthy environment. This role will also be responsible for designing and implementing student development programs and services that advance the university's commitment to access, diversity, equity and inclusion. Using data to develop strategic initiatives to promote student achievement, this position will help facilitate academic progression and increased graduation rates. The ideal incumbent understands issues related to access and progression and takes effective steps to improve both. The incumbent fully integrates the social determinants of education (economic, food, physical environment, social environment, and health) into a model for all students.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and fosters relationships across the university to provide ongoing linkages in the delivery of curricular and co-curricular programs.
  • Promotes a student success- and student learning-centered culture, advocating to ensure student needs are prioritized and student success goals are achieved.
  • Identifies challenges and obstacles within the student journey, and connects with resources to reduce;
  • Helps students to develop skills that will assist in achieving goals (i.e. financial planning, test taking skills, time management, study plans);
  • Leads delivery of career services to students and alumni, promoting active engagement with a wide range of employers and career opportunities. Encourages career development of students through meaningful advising and access to job leads, resources and programs.
  • Creates best-in-class programs that provide high quality student experiences such as open houses;
  • Works with campuses to strengthen the culture of CARE which leads to improved results;
  • Develops data reports and synthesizes key trends and solutions with students, especially those who are diverse or are vulnerable;
  • Proposes appropriate financial strategies to improve affordability, e.g. grants;
  • Continuously gathers feedback from students that can be used to improve programs and services for students;
  • Optimizes course and clinical scheduling policies and approaches that facilitate progression and student satisfaction;
  • Develops mentoring, counseling, and coaching resources widely available and effective for all campuses.

Qualifications

  • 10 years experience in an academic environment with an emphasis on implementing continuous improvement suggestions to the student experience Required 
  • Experienced with the supervision and management of direct reports within a department. Required 
  • Experienced with database administration – MS Access knowledge considered Preferred
  • Must have a strong personal presence and excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Must have excellent leadership capabilities to develop staff.
  • Strong analytical skills – must be able to identify overarching issues that should be addressed in order to enable procedures to be improved.
  • Above average competency in Microsoft Suite of products.
  • Strong analytical skills, utilizing information from multiple databases to support student success.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels: student, faculty and staff. Strong customer service orientation.
  • Must be familiar with and comfortable working within a matrix management system.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $137,846.78 and $241,870.90. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
