Job Description

Opportunity at a Glance

Under the general supervision of Walden Student Affairs this position is responsible for activities related to student identity verification including but not limited to the verification of documents, and the detection and prevention of financial aid and academic fraud through video and written evidence. This position will work closely with cross-functional teams to review, research, and analyze data. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Conduct interviews with university applicants and students to verify identity. 
  • Analyze data from multiple cross-functional systems to identify trends, patterns, and red flags related to potentially fraudulent activity.  
  • Thoroughly review, analyze, and verify student records, assignments and documentation. 
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders in verifying documentation submitted 
  • Advise students and staff in understanding Walden’s student identity verification and academic integrity processes 
  • Communicate with students via telephone, video, certified mail, and email, both professionally and with urgency as appropriate. 
  • Maintain documentation systems and tracking logs with a strong attention to detail. 
  • Assist in compiling data to be used for regular reporting purposes and assist in the creation of such reports.  
  • Employees may be asked to assist with activities related to verification within the Document Management team, Financial Aid team, or the Bursar team.  
  • Occasional travel to university or training events may be requested.  

 


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Incumbents will be evaluated, in part, based on performance of each essential function. REQUIRED: Skill in the use of computerized systems and databases (including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel)  

PREFERRED: Skill in the use of the following systems 

  • Banner  
  • Salesforce 
  • PowerFAIDS 
  • Campus Logic 
  • Canvas, Brightspace 
  • Turnitin  
  • Power BI, SharePoint 
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and technologies for gathering and analyzing evidence  
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity systems, processes, and protocols  
  • Experience conducting verification interviews  
  • Experience reviewing forensic data, such as IP login data 
  • Experience with student academic integrity and conduct matters 

REQUIRED: 

  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills  
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously  
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills  
  • Experience preparing reports for varied audiences  
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information with discretion 
  • Experience evaluating and verifying documentation  

EDUCATION 

  • REQUIRED:  Bachelor’s degree, preferred:  Master’s degree 
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in higher education, including Student Affairs, University information systems  

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $65,000 and $75,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
