Opportunity at a Glance
The Director, Academic Support Advising will be responsible for all Academic Advising functions within their assigned program and/or campus locations. This individual will provide leadership and vision to the Academic Support Advising colleagues regarding key performance indicators that directly impact enrollment, persistence, and the overall student experience. The Director, Academic Advising functions as a role model for our TEACH values and fosters a culture of Chamberlain CARE consistent with our mission, vision, and purpose. This position reports to the Director, Advising and Retention Services and has the following responsibilities: 

Responsibilities

  • Implement and ensure adherence to standardized policies and procedures for all academic support advising functions.
  • Interview and provides input into the hiring decision of the Manager and Supervisor of Academic Support Advising colleagues and ensures that new Academic Support Colleagues are appropriately trained.
  • Ensure student’s progression toward their educational goal is monitored and that advising staff utilizes various strategies/tools to address academic persistence, engagement, and completion.
  • Evaluate performance of the Academic Support Advising team and provides input into their quarterly and annual performance evaluation.
  • Provide oversight of the new and continuing student process including management of student appointments, meeting KPI goals and deliverables, and ensuring students are accurately advised and progressing through the process in a timely manner. This includes analyzing staffing models, budgets and ensuring all interests are met.
  • Identify and assist with the development and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities for the Advising and Retention Services department and the University.
  • Collaborate with other functional areas to ensure resource alignment in order to drive student enrollment, persistence, and retention.
  • Utilize various systems (i.e., SFDC, Productivity Dashboard, inContact, various reports, etc.) to monitor Academic Support Advising productivity and performance as it related to daily functional priorities/student follow up and adjust strategies and tactics as needed based on analysis of data.
  • Manage and evaluate various KPI targeted results in order to identify areas of success and opportunity.
  • Utilize data analysis to determine necessary initiatives, improvements, and cutting-edge solutions that lead to superior student outcomes.
  • Provide guidance and development to Academic Support Advising Managers in order to equip them with the tools, knowledge, and opportunities needed to successfully support Academic Support Advisors.
  • Assist with enrollment and retention related initiatives.
  • Diffuse and resolve escalated student issues while exercising care for students and remaining compliant with all organization and legal standards. If unable to resolve, escalate the issue along the correct escalation path.
  • Establish self as a thought leader through continuous learning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in higher education administration, business, or other related discipline. Required
  • 5 years work experience in an academic environment. Required
  • Customer service experience. Required
  • Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability in process improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office, internet applications and database software.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the integrated functions of college-level registrar, admissions, financial aid, academic advising, and student affairs.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Must have strong analytical and organizational skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a matrix organization.
  • Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques.
  • Ability to assess objectives and operational requirements and to develop and implement suitable operational policies and/or procedures.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $77996.84 and $140851.54. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
