Job Description

Join our dynamic team as the visionary leader responsible for shaping and implementing a cutting-edge strategy to enhance student retention and success! Reporting directly to the Vice President of Advising and Retention Services, you will play a pivotal role in driving positive change within our institution.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with academic partners and key stakeholders to streamline processes, enhance student services, and boost efficiency, resulting in a seamless and consistent student experience.
  • Demonstrate leadership by providing valuable insights on persistence trends and proposing innovative solutions to improve student retention, leading to successful advising operations.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to develop both immediate and long-term strategies, ensuring impactful advising services. Partner with Institutional Support Services to implement and measure the effectiveness of these strategies.
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan that empowers academic support advisors, promoting student success through enhanced enrollment, persistence efforts, and support for at-risk students.
  • Champion a learner-centered and culturally responsive advising system that supports students throughout their entire college journey, fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment.
  • Utilize student success data and research to inform decision-making and continually assess and improve advising program outcomes.
  • Stay updated on college academic policies, leveraging your broad operational knowledge to enhance institutional policies and functions.
  • Lead and mentor the Advising Operations team, guiding them in the implementation of financial aid policies and procedures while ensuring exceptional training, system support, and communications for all Advising and Retention Services teams.
  • Take charge of hiring and developing talented personnel within the department, fostering a supportive and growth-oriented work culture.
  • Manage and oversee the advising operations budget, ensuring resources are optimally allocated to drive results.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of proven higher education or comparable experience managing highly regulated functional areas. 
  • 5+ years of experience in the area of financial aid or academic advising at a multi-location higher education institution is preferred.
  • Understands higher education industry regulations and compliance; advanced knowledge of the principles, practices, methodology and procedures for the provision of financial aid and academic advising.
  • Exhibits a strong leadership and professional presence coupled with excellent written and senior-level communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects required.
  • Understands process improvement and the relationship between process optimization, metrics, analytics and reporting.
  • Displays strong strategic-planning skills complimented with exceptional business acumen.
  • Brings strong analytical and organizational skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a matrix organization.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $97,253.99 and $175,761.85. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
