REMOTE – If you live over 50 miles from Adtalem offices in Chicago, IL, Addison, IL, Columbia, MD, Minneapolis, MN, and Miramar, FL, this role is remote. However, occasional office visits may be required based on business needs, with advance communication for such requests.


Job Description

Walden University seeks to add a Manager, Data Analytics to its Student Service function, reporting to the Vice President of Student Success. This individual will be responsible for operating in a data and analytics capacity, serving to improve our university’s performance and student success outcomes. Further this position will leverage predictive analytics to drive improved retention operations. The Manager will play an integral role in promoting data-driven decision-making that drives successful retention efforts and will closely collaborate with various functions and stakeholders to support our mission. 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct ad hoc analysis as prioritized by the leadership of the Student Success function, including the VP of Student Success.
  • Build durable dashboards and reports that will serve to improve our university’s performance in supporting student success outcomes.
  • Enable the “roll up” and “roll down” of key reports so that they are useful at the individual contributor, program, and institution level; ensure that the views and translation are coherent across all levels. 
  • Work with the central Data & Analytics function, including team members from Analytics and Data Engineering, to ensure data quality and consistency.
  • Leverage predictive analytics to drive improved retention operations.
  • Generate actionable insights from various sources of data, principally predictive analytics enabled by the Civitas platform.
  • Use the administrative insights tool and other views to identify student populations of interest, predictive signals for these students, and actions that may support improved success.
  • Collaborate with the full Student Success organization, the Academics function, the Student Communications function, and Institutional Shared Services to recommend and carry out coordinated student campaigns.
  • Marshall teams from across the enterprise to act in a coherent, coordinated way on these insights to drive student outcomes. 
  • Derives insights and opportunities to inform key decisions.
  • Effectively communicates insights from data, dashboards, and reports to various levels of stakeholders across the university.
  • Compiles and presents data as requested. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • 3+ years experience in a data analytics or comparable role
  • Experience with data visualization platforms (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau)
  • Experience with ETL tools (e.g., Alteryx) or data transformation language (e.g., SQL)
  • Experience with Civitas
  • Experience operating in an academic, higher education, and/or highly regulated environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency with data visualization platforms (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with ETL tools (e.g., Alteryx) or data transformation language (e.g., SQL)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to learn quickly 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across a matrixed organizational environment 
  • Strong skills for data manipulation from multiple sources.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and enjoys working collaboratively with a team.  Natural ability to resolve issues and determine effective business solutions.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills required. Ability to interact with all levels within the organization and work in a fast-paced environment with many initiatives.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Proficiency with visualization techniques to communicate insights
  • Strong project management skills, with proficiency with project management practices and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally to a diverse population.
  • Must be detail oriented.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $68637.22 and $124230.14. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
