Job Description

We are seeking a vigilant and responsible Campus Patrol officer to join our security team in Cupecoy, Sint Maarten. As a Campus Patrol officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors on our campus.

  • Conduct regular patrols of campus buildings, grounds, and parking areas to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates
  • Monitor and operate surveillance equipment, access control systems, and alarm systems
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, disturbances, and alarms, and contact local law enforcement or emergency services when necessary
  • Enforce campus rules, regulations, and local laws
  • Prepare and submit detailed incident reports
  • Assist campus community members with general inquiries and provide directions or escorts as needed
  • Participate in crime prevention programs and safety awareness initiatives
  • Collaborate with other security personnel and campus departments to ensure comprehensive safety measures
  • Maintain a highly visible presence to deter criminal activity and promote a sense of security
  • Transport of students, per courtesy shuttle service & nemt service

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Security guard certification (if required in Sint Maarten)
  • Prior experience in security or law enforcement preferred
  • Proficiency in security protocols, surveillance techniques, and emergency response procedures
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Physical fitness to perform the duties of the position
  • Basic computer skills for report writing and operating security systems
  • Knowledge of local laws and regulations
  • Familiarity with campus environment and policies
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Dutch or local Creole languages is a plus
