Job Description

Chamberlain University is seeking a collaborative and experienced academic leader to serve as Associate Dean – Online. This remote role supports the Program Dean in the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of our online nursing programs, with a focus on the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) track.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee faculty teaching DNP practicum courses and address related student concerns.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure effective practicum experiences and academic support.
  • Monitor and report on student success metrics (retention, graduation, certification pass rates, satisfaction).
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
  • Support program operations including curriculum management, course development, assessment, and delivery.
  • Supervise assistant deans, faculty managers, faculty, and staff.
  • Participate in faculty recruitment, onboarding, evaluation, and mentoring.
  • Serve as acting Program Dean in their absence.
  • Contribute to academic policy development and budget planning.
  • Promote a culture of academic excellence, professionalism, and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in nursing (DNP or PhD) required.
  • Experience in online nursing education and academic leadership.
  • Familiarity with DNP project and practicum processes (preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise faculty and staff, including assistant deans and faculty managers.
  • Experience with curriculum and course development, review, and implementation a plus. 
  • Knowledge of program assessment, accreditation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to manage student learning experiences and support student success.
  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Ability to analyze and report on student success metrics (e.g., retention, graduation, certification pass rates).
  • Experience in faculty recruitment, onboarding, evaluation, and mentoring.
  • Effective communicator and role model in academic excellence, professionalism, and student-centered service.
  • Availability to assume program leadership in the absence of the Program Dean.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $80,336.75 and $140,851.54. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
