  • HYBRID – If you reside within 50 miles of Adtalem offices in Chicago, IL, Addison, IL, Columbia, MD, Minneapolis, MN, and Miramar, FL this role is hybrid, requiring office presence three days a week (Tue, Wed, Thu), with the rest of the workweek spent working from home.
  • REMOTE – If you live over 50 miles from Adtalem offices in Chicago, IL, Addison, IL, Columbia, MD, Minneapolis, MN, and Miramar, FL, this role is remote. However, occasional office visits may be required based on business needs, with advance communication for such requests.

Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Academic Succes in the Office of Program Assessment and Evaluation (OPAE), the Associate Dean for Assessment manages the assessment activities at the university level, currently with a focus on supporting the healthcare programs in terms of the development, measurement, review, and competency tracking of student learning outcomes, program and university level outcomes, implementation and oversight of the academic program self-reviews, and support and evaluation of co-curricular self-reviews. This person collaborates with appropriate Walden University entities, including academic program directors, deans, faculty, and other stakeholders, in performing their essential duties and responsibilities. The Associate Dean for Assessment supports the university-wide assessment processes and strategic initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Leads and provides oversight for academic programs and university initiatives to develop assessment items and processes for outcomes assessment, curriculum alignment maps, and tracking and analyzing learning outcomes assessment plans for academic programs and university initiatives.

· Engages in creating programmatic and university data-informed continuous improvement action plans.

· Supports data requests from academic programs and university leadership to support programmatic and university assessment needs.

· Participates on the OPAE team that monitors programmatic changes per HLC and DOE expectations for all university programs.

· Leads and provides oversight with academic program self-reviews and accreditation self-studies related to data analysis and creating action plans for continuous improvement.

· Facilitates faculty and academic leadership with professional development related to assessment processes and best practices.


Qualifications

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

· A minimum of 3 years of experience in developing and assessing student learning and facilitating university assessment processes OR

· A minimum of 3 years of experience in curriculum mapping, development, and integration of assessment tools through instructional design and development at the program (or higher) level.

· Demonstrates the ability to plan and execute actions to accomplish high-level goals at the program and institution levels.

· Experience developing college-level courses, constructing rubrics, and interpreting aggregated results of student submissions.

· Exemplifies excellent people skills when collaborating and engaging with faculty and academic leaders in a remote work environment.

· Comfortable with frequent change and new initiatives.

· Experience developing and training faculty and academic leadership on analyzing and implementing assessment and/or outcomes data, using assessment tools, and applying

assessment best practices at the course, program, and institutional levels for continuous course, program or portfolio improvements.

· Experience as a teaching faculty member in higher education.

· Master's or higher degree; PhD preferred.

· Demonstrates advanced proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word, SharePoint, and PowerPoint

· Demonstrates strong skills in using design thinking, data visualizations, and data storytelling to inform strategic decisions.

· Highly organized, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Demonstrates the ability to make recommendations based on interpreting data accurately.

· Possess familiarity with the Higher Learning Commission (or other institutional accrediting agencies) relating to institutional assessment.

· Possess the ability to influence without formal authority.


Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $77,996.84 and $140,851.54. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
