  • HYBRID – If you reside within 50 miles of Adtalem offices in Chicago, IL, Addison, IL, Columbia, MD, Minneapolis, MN, and Miramar, FL this role is hybrid, requiring office presence three days a week (Tue, Wed, Thu), with the rest of the workweek spent working from home.
  • REMOTE – If you live over 50 miles from Adtalem offices in Chicago, IL, Addison, IL, Columbia, MD, Minneapolis, MN, and Miramar, FL, this role is remote. However, occasional office visits may be required based on business needs, with advance communication for such requests.

Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Associate Dean reports to the Dean of Research. This position includes responsibilities over internal and external grant support, scholarly development, and research dissemination opportunities for students, faculty, and alumni.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prioritize and lead efforts for increased student engagement in grants and publications.
  • Prioritize and collaborate with Walden and Adtalem stakeholders to increase opportunities for external grants for students, faculty, staff, and alumni independently or with external partners.
  • Mentor faculty, students, and alumni on internal and external grant opportunities.
  • Mentor faculty, students, and alumni in pursuing external grants including local and federal grants.
  • Develop specialized training opportunities and resources for graduate students around securing grants, presenting, and publishing.
  • Co-Lead and develop, dissemination events including Conferences, Research Symposia, and Research Colloquia, and New Scholars Workshop
  • Provide research development consultation for students, faculty, and alumni.
  • Manage support services for faculty and students on grant writing and publication.
  • Provide instruction and advising in doctoral academic residencies on grant writing, scholarship, and publications.
  • Provide management for all Walden University Journals and coordinate faculty journal editors (for each journal) and the copy-editing team.
  • Lead new initiatives on journal special issues, grant proceedings and conference proceedings.
  • Increase student publications in Walden journals and external publications.
  • Coordinate the Research Based Review Committee for existing Walden grants and awards.
  • Train faculty on mentoring students for publications and presentations based on doctoral capstone work.
  • Develop and provide publication and presentation support and resources for Interdisciplinary Research Labs,

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Earned doctorate in the relevant discipline and area preferred.
  • Record of excellence in research publication and presentations
  • Experience in mentoring faculty and students.
  • Experience in doctoral education.
  • Experience developing faculty and student support solutions preferred.
  • Editorial and peer reviewer experience preferred.
  • Experience writing grants and working with foundations and agencies preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, team participation, team building, and human relation skills.
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds in a collaborative manner.
  • Ability to creatively solve problems.
  • Ability to write effectively in both business and academic styles.
  • Experience with distance learning preferred.
  • Some travel required.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $77,996.84 and $140,851.54. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
