Job Description

Opportunity at a Glance
The Assistant Dean directs and provides leadership to faculty to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of program courses and curricula in an environment and manner that achieves superior student outcomes. This includes, but is not limited to, helping to coordinate and implement retention and persistent initiatives, faculty coaching and evaluation, ensuring academic and operational compliance, and regular data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring that program courses are staffed with qualified, trained, high-quality instructors.
  • Participates in the recruitment of faculty, initiates department requisition request, and ensures that the Talent Acquisition team is aware of faculty recruitment needs.
  • Interviews and selects qualified faculty for the program.
  • Responsible for orienting new faculty and for developing, updating, and implementing faculty orientation materials and processes as needed.
  • Supervises assigned faculty.
  • Evaluates assigned faculty, providing regular and timely feedback and coaching as needed.
  • Prepares, assesses, and communicates faculty and course performance and faculty qualification metrics to faculty, course leaders, and program leadership.
  • Participates in preparing course and faculty schedules, including immersion schedules as needed, working with the faculty operations and course scheduling teams.
  • Monitors and reports on faculty workload.
  • Monitors, aggregates and reports weekly at-risk/persistence data
  • Prepares and provides ongoing faculty development and training to ensure consistent, high-quality faculty performance and implementation of university and program initiatives
  • Guides faculty regarding student concerns and escalations, academic integrity issues, student absences and performance concerns, assessment, and practicum and preceptor issues.
  • Monitors and enforces faculty completion of expected duties.
  • Tracks faculty qualifications regarding education, certifications, and licensure, and ensures compliance before allowing faculty to teach.
  • Collaborates with Student Services regarding student concerns.
  • Serves as a role model and mentors faculty and students in areas of academic excellence, customer service, collaboration, communication and professionalism.
  • Solicits recommendations from faculty for academic budget.
  • Ensures regular meetings of the faculty to facilitate communication and faculty participation in planning, implementing, and evaluating the curriculum.
  • Assist with administrative duties associated with accreditation requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in the program field required in graduate programs Required and
  • Master's Degree in the program field required in undergraduate programs. Required
  • 2 years’ experience in education, training, or staff development at the baccalaureate level or above Required and
  • 1 year online teaching experience Required
  • Proficiency with online instructional technology applications and Microsoft Office required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Previous leadership experience required.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels: students, faculty, leadership, and staff.
  • Strong customer service orientation and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lead, direct, and advise faculty.
  • Ability to use a variety of technology applications.
  • In programs that require graduates to obtain licensure to practice, the license Required and
  • In programs that require graduates to obtain additional certification to practice, the certification Required

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $68,637.22 and $124,230.14. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
