Walden’s College of Management and Human Potential seeks contributing faculty who are experienced scholar-practitioners, mentors, and doctoral committee leaders to fill part-time academic mentoring faculty positions. These contributing faculty members will report to the Program Director. Part-time faculty are primarily responsible for student research mentoring and direct student engagement of research design and approach in the DBA program within the College of Management and Human Potential.

Faculty members educate Walden University students by effectively and proficiently using online technology and resources so that knowledge, information, feedback, and critique are imparted to and shared with students in timely, thoughtful, carefully formulated, and well written communications. Job Description

DBA Contributing Faculty members ’ primary responsibility will be to chair and/or serve as second members on doctoral committees as methodologists and/or content experts. Infrequently, based on student enrollment, Contributing Faculty may be invited to instruct content courses or to instruct research methodology courses, which they are credentialed to teach. Participation in Mentor Training will be provided and required.

Availability

Contributing faculty should be reasonably accessible to their students. Faculty members are expected to be available to students outside of the online asynchronous course discussion board. In addition to providing substantive feedback on student submissions, faculty members will publish their availability to students through course syllabi, instructor information in the classroom, or other appropriate documents.

Course Teaching

Discussion Boards for classrooms are open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Although postings to the classroom may be done at any time of day, postings and responses must be completed in a timely manner in accordance with the Faculty Handbook or other criteria established by Walden University and the program to which they are assigned. As such, Contributing Faculty members are expected to be in classrooms a minimum of 4 days per week and post responses to student’s questions within 48 hours. Faculty members should be able to engage students and support their doctoral success for multiple consecutive course mentoring terms. Faculty Members are required to verify the quality of student submissions, and to provide feedback and grades to students through the online classroom.


Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Terminal degree in Business Administration (PhD, DBA, DM) or a related field from an accredited institution is required, Experience as a research methodologist is preferred – emphasis on quantitative methodology.

Proof of serving on doctoral committees for at least 3 to 5 years (Preferably Chair of the committee).

Experience working in an online instructional setting at the graduate or doctoral level

Strong research methodology background in quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed methods in research (preference given to quantitative).

Extensive experience in business leadership and management as a practitioner of business science approaches.

Ability to apply business management, leadership, and research science theories to the real world.

Candidates should possess a record of intellectual and professional contributions to the business field, including experience in the practice of business leadership and management.

Evidence of continuing scholarly or creative work within the past 5 years.

Proficient in APA 7th edition.

Evidence of doctoral mentoring experience included in curriculum vitae.

 


Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected compensation rate for this position is as follows:

  • Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course

    Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as type of course taught; experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility. Walden also offers other opportunities for its contributing faculty members, such as dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring.
