Job Description

Job Summary:

This role will report into the SVP/CHRO and be responsible for developing and delivering best-in-class Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) strategies as well as driving and enhancing the impact of talent management and development. This leadership role will focus on building, shaping and leading the enterprise DEI strategy, with responsibility for driving a high-performance culture of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging that helps Adtalem achieve our growth objectives. The role also includes developing and executing the enterprise talent management strategy to develop, retain and engage top talent in an inclusive, forward-thinking culture, and build a talent and leadership pipeline to drive growth and profitability.

The person in this role will have one direct report in Talent Management, and partner closely with HR and other leaders to ensure impactful implementation of the DEI strategy.

This is a hybrid role 2-3 times per week in our Chicago office.  

Responsibilities:

  • Design, champion and lead DEI strategies and initiatives that optimize people, processes, and community outreach to accelerate business performance and build/sustain a culture exemplified by diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
  • Collaborate with Adtalem leaders to execute the DEI strategy and embed diversity and inclusion principles in workplace practices, processes, and policies.
  • Ensure the alignment of DEI initiatives and objectives across the organization, including DEI platforms and councils located within the company’s institutions.
  • Consult with, coach, and influence senior executives, lead complex business initiatives, and collaborate at all levels in the organization to heighten DEI awareness, knowledge, application, and leadership.
  • Establish and support Employee Resource Groups to aid in driving the DEI initiatives.
    Partner with Talent Acquisition to develop strategies and processes to source and attract diverse talent.
  • Establish consistent metrics and reporting to evaluate ROI on inclusion initiatives; assess trends and progress toward targeted goals. Utilize data analytics, systems thinking, and innovative solutions to create measurable results in both DEI and Talent Management.
  • Lead efforts related to strategy, design, and delivery of integrated talent management programs/processes for the enterprise, ensuring continuous development of existing talent and a robust talent pipeline.
  • Drive employee engagement, performance management and talent development initiatives that accelerate growth and reduce attrition.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to ensure leaders can properly assess and deploy talent.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
  • 15 years of Human Resources experience with 10 years in the diversity, equity and inclusion space, and 5 years in Talent Management.
  • Experience successfully developing and executing DEI strategies and programs from the ground up.
    Proven ability to think strategically and creatively.
  • Experience driving change, leading programs, improving processes, and working collaboratively across multiple functions to gain commitments and implement sustainable change.
  • Experience developing and delivering learning solutions that support organizational goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong business acumen, organizational savvy and project management skills.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $159,328.72 and $288,104.20. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
