Job Description

In the Department of Biomedical Sciences, we are seeking the recruitment of an experienced and knowledgeable Veterinary Biomedical scientist who will join our Toxicology/Pharmacology/Physiology/Anatomy Team of professionals who are working collaboratively to enhance our curriculum and enrich the student learning experience in preparing DVM graduates to face the global opportunities and challenges of veterinary medicine in the 21st century.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching:

· Participate in a team-taught course in Veterinary Toxicology as well as one or more of the following, depending on qualifications: General and Clinical Veterinary Pharmacology, Physiology or Anatomy

· Prepare NAVLE oriented exam questions, provide assessment, and meet with students as requested to provide guidance and understanding of course lectures

Research:

· Aim to develop an independent, collaborative, and productive line of research resulting in a sustainable output of publications in peer-reviewed journals

· Seek intramural funding through 1 of 4 RUSVM Research Centers as initial support to build the foundation to seek extramural funding

· Represent RUSVM and showcase research achievements through participation at scientific meetings Administrative/Service

Activities:

· Aim to serve as member on various academic and operational committees

· Aim to serve as faculty advisor to RUSVM student organizations or clubs

· Serve on postgraduate committees for Master’s and PhD students

· Completes other duties as determined and assigned by the Department and/or Division Head


Qualifications

 

· DVM, or comparable degree is required

· Combination of a DVM and PhD and/or specialist status (ACVCP, ABVT, ACVECC/ECVECC,ACVIM/ECVIM) is desired

· Experience in various areas of Toxicology, Pharmacology, Anatomy, Physiology alone or in combination is required. The ideal candidate would have experience at least in Toxicology and Pharmacology.

· The successful candidate will have experience as an educator with a teaching philosophy to deliver lectures with scope and depth to convey concepts and clinical applications as well as fortitude to rigorously assesses student progress.

· The successful candidate will have developed or have the potential to develop a scholarly record as a scientist with a research philosophy that embraces One Health in a collaborative manner which will support and sustain intramural and extramural grant funding.

· The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and embrace a culture of care that is based on diversity, equity, and inclusion supported by core values that encompass T.E.A.C.H – Team, Energy, Accountability, Community, Heart.
