Job Description

Opportunity at a Glance:

In your role as the System Administrator, you will support the daily batch application and contribute to projects, ensuring the proper execution of applications in Adtalem’s production and test environments.  You develop and maintain a working relationship with engineering and service management colleagues to ensure service levels are met. 

You also diagnose issues related to applications, operating systems, and hardware.  You are responsible for understanding scripts and how they relate to batch processing in the production environment. You build, test and analyze the scripts provided by support groups prior to implementation.

Through the testing process, you analyze the results and ensure they meet expectations and provide accurate results.  You work with the users and support personnel to ensure appropriate functionality, scheduling and accuracy are maintained.

Responsibilities:

  • Look for improvement opportunities and areas for automation, including writing scripts to facilitate consistent and repeatable execution of recurring batch processes. 
  • Identify opportunities for training to assist in developing Operations Center colleagues in their nightly batch monitoring and overall knowledge.
  • Create, update and maintain batch schedule documentation to support efficient operational and audit requirements. 
  • Provide Level 2 troubleshooting of business applications and software - including problem analysis, as well as support for complex production systems and applications, ensuring availability for all users. 
  • Provide expert knowledge of the applications used by the Operations Center to facilitate performance improvements.
  • Prepare and complete audit requests for batch applications and schedules to demonstrate compliance.
  • Mentor and assist in training Computer Operators on established procedures where needed.
  • On call rotation 3-4 weeks 
  • Complete other projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in a computer related field or other appropriate technical training.  A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience with enterprise job scheduling solutions (preferably Automic formerly called AppWorx)
  • At least 2 year of experience managing batch applications in a production environment – including UNIX / LINUX and Microsoft technologies.
  • Experience with operational tools pertaining to monitoring, backing up and scheduling batch jobs. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve simple problems associated with batch applications and hardware, as well as batch job schedules.  
  • Good communication skills with the ability to relate technical as well as non-technical issues accurately and effectively.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and complete assigned tasks on time.
  • Highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative with minimal supervision
  • Enthusiastic learner, ready to meet challenges and quickly assimilate new concepts.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps
  • Knowledge of software automation programmatic interface technologies such as RESTful web services and JSON

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $37761.23 and $68341.37. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
