Faculty Opportunity – Join Our Dynamic Medical Education Team!

Are you passionate about teaching and shaping the next generation of physicians? We’re looking for a dedicated and innovative faculty member to join our academic team at Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM), where education is our top priority.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, workshops, and small group sessions.
  • Develop course materials including handouts, practice questions, and assessments.
  • Facilitate one-on-one academic support and advising for students.
  • Collaborate with the Academy for Teaching and Learning to enhance student outcomes.
  • Write and review NBME-style questions for practice and exams.
  • Design, administer, and evaluate examinations to assess student progress.
  • Continuously improve instructional materials and teaching techniques.
  • Participate in curriculum review and development with departmental colleagues.
  • Engage in professional development to enhance teaching and subject expertise.
  • Serve on faculty committees and contribute to course content refinement.
  • Lead and moderate Case-Based and Problem-Based Learning discussions.
  • Support remote and interactive instruction as needed.

What You Bring

  • Experience using modern teaching tools and educational technology.
  • Familiarity with platforms like Zoom, Interdashboard, Turning Point, Doceri, NearPod, Socrates, Kahoot, and similar apps.
  • Knowledge of mobile learning tools, iPads in education, and iBook creation is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to remote teaching environments and interactive delivery methods.

Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • MD or equivalent medical degree required
  • Board certification or eligibility in Pathology required

Experience

  • 3–5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Prior teaching experience at a North American or United Kingdom medical school preferred
  • Documented record of teaching effectiveness desirable

Teaching & Educational Expertise

  • Strong understanding of postsecondary teaching principles, methods, and materials
  • Demonstrated use of active teaching methods preferred
  • Ability to initiate, complete, and present results of medical education research projects desirable
  • Commitment to ongoing faculty development in medical education

Technology & Innovation

  • Proficiency with educational technologies, including:
    • Learning management systems (LMS)
    • Audience response systems
    • Online examination platforms
    • Videoconferencing tools
  • Familiarity with tools such as Zoom, Interdashboard, Turning Point, Doceri, NearPod, Socrates, Kahoot, and similar applications
  • Experience with mobile learning, iPads in teaching, and iBook creation is a plus

Communication & Collaboration

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written English communication skills
  • Willingness to collaborate with faculty and academic support teams
  • Willingness to reside in Barbados
