The Health Services Department at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine has a mission to support the educational process and overall mission of our students by providing quality health care services and promoting positive health outcomes for our community.

The Registered Nurse serves as a medical resource, health educator and advocate in a key student/colleague facing role within the RUSVM community. As a healthcare provider, the incumbent makes independent nursing assessments, diagnoses, and evaluations in the clinic and on campus regarding injuries and illnesses and provides first aid, emergency care or crisis intervention in accordance with local nursing laws and by applying evidence-based medicine.
Responsibilities:

1. Maintains sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of RUSVM students, faculty, and staff. Exercises tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive, complex, and confidential student issues and situations.
2. Conduct thorough nursing assessments of patient signs and symptoms.
3. Provide interventions based on established physician standing orders
4. Document all patient interventions in electronic medical record, including the preparation of incident reports where appropriate.
5. Administer routine vaccines as necessary including research-related based on established protocols.
6. Contacts physician on or off campus to arrange for further medical treatment, when needed.
7. Ensures that clinic is properly equipped with adequate supplies (health center inventory) and suited to the provision of optimal patient care.
8. Assists Physician in medical examinations where necessary and/or requested.
9. Provides general nursing care and initial care for referrals and emergencies.
10. Support after hours nursing on-call service to RUSVM students when needed, such as in the absence of a permanent colleague for illness or vacation or I special situations where additional support may become necessary.
11. Contribute to a positive work environment.
12. Other duties as assigned and/or agreed upon.

1. Current and unobstructed licensure as a Registered Nurse in St. Kitts and Nevis.
2. Strong nursing assessment, physical assessment, and clinical skills
3. At least 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
