Job Description

Ross University School of Medicine invites applications for a faculty post to cross teach in two of the disciplines taught within the Department of Medical Foundations, namely Pharmacology. A preference will be given to candidates who can cross teach across disciplines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver effective lectures and facilitate active learning sessions, incorporating modern teaching tools and technology.
  • Prepare course materials, including handouts, practice questions, and digital content (e.g., videos, digital workbooks).
  • Engage with students through various formats, including one-on-one interactions, small group learning, and academic advising.
  • Develop, administer, and evaluate assessments, including writing and reviewing NBME-style questions.
  • Participate in curriculum review, development, and improvement initiatives within the department and across disciplines.
  • Contribute to ongoing faculty development in medical education and serve on faculty committees as appointed or elected.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in educational technology, including e-learning management systems, audience response systems, and online examinations.
  • Comply with all policies and standards, and perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or Campus Dean.

Qualifications

  • PhD M.D., Required or other relevant terminal degree 
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience teaching pharmacology to medical students
  • Strong teaching skills and experience or evidence of potential Required
  • Interest in medical education
  • Desire for self-improvement
  • Flexibility and ability to work well on a team
  • Preference will be given to an applicant with proven teaching skills within the areas covered by the department
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to reside in Barbados
