Chamberlain University seeks to welcome Online Part-Time Professors to teach in our Master of Social Work program in the areas of: non-Western practice; research; statistics. The Master of Social Work degree program is aimed at developing and empowering students to be agents of social change in their communities and throughout the world.

MSW504 - Human Behavior in the Social Environment I - This course is one of two required to complete the human behavior series. This course provides a foundation for social work practice through an understanding of the major theories of individual and family functioning that encompasses biophysical, cognitive, emotional, social and spiritual dimensions. During this course, students will focus on the roles that culture and cultural identity play in human development within the context of diverse environmental factors. Students will learn the central concepts of theories that provide the basis for many assessment and intervention tools used in social work practice with individuals, families, groups, communities and organizations.
MSW506 - Policy I: Social Welfare and Social Policy - This course is one of two required to complete the policy series. This course provides students with a foundational understanding of social welfare policies and programs in the United States and the historical and contemporary forces that have shaped their development. In addition to providing students with a rich understanding of policy and policy reform, this course introduces students to core policy concepts and analytic skills needed to further the achievement of social work goals regarding social policies and programs. This course also reviews the development of the social work profession and its influence on social welfare policies through advocacy, social action, research and social reform
MSW507 - Research Methods & Applications - This course develops knowledge and skills needed for using research evidence to inform practice and policy. Topics covered include key research methods and statistics, program evaluation concepts and critical thinking skills related to making professional decisions about research information. Students develop experience in analyzing research and its use within specific practice contexts and with diverse individuals, families and communities.
The successful professor will:
- Inspire students to complete their program by providing regular, meaningful feedback about their academic performance, development and participation while encouraging them to engage fully in their education
- Engage students in meaningful asynchronous threaded discussions at least 4 days per week, moderating participation, evaluating responses and rationales, and responding to questions or comments
- Evaluate academic progress and comprehension of course content through assigning and grading quizzes, exams and writing assignments
- Exhibit care by displaying behaviors respect and professionalism, creating a culture that fosters collaboration, cooperation and respect among all
- Be readily available to meet the needs of a student body that is diverse in age, culture and academic preparation
- Identify and embrace opportunities to enhance student engagement by reaching out to students in need and responding quickly to requests for help
- Bring your professional experience to life through professional development, introducing industry perspective into courses and sharing information about social work trends and opportunities with students
- Promote student success by demonstrating flexibility in style, schedule, and exhibiting your passion for teaching by devoting time and energy to improve scholarly excellence and subject matter expertise
- Foster a positive learning environment by maintaining accurate records, submitting grades on time, and enforcing academic policies
- Use course-related software and technology effectively, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
- Model effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
- Set clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.
- Ensure that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.

- A doctorate (Ph.D. or DSW) in Social Work or very closely related field (required) and CSWE-accredited MSW degree are required to be considered for this position.
- A minimum of 3 years college-level teaching experience is required
- Current or very recent professional experience required in the field of instruction as described in the course descriptions
- Possess genuine passion for education and lifelong learning
- Have exceptional subject matter expertise as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Are eager to serve students and colleagues with passion, respect and care
- Operate with a sense of responsibility and purpose with the desire to enrich colleagues, students and the broader community

- Are able to provide official transcripts for all earned degrees from a regionally accredited institution (or equivalency if degree is earned from a non-domestic institution).
Chamberlain Visiting Professor Position - Online:
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected compensation rate for this position is between $850/Earned Credit Hour to $1,950/Earned Credit Hour, depending on the candidate’s education and experience.
Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as type of course taught; experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
