  • REMOTE – If you live over 50 miles from Adtalem offices in Chicago, IL, Addison, IL, Columbia, MD, Minneapolis, MN, and Miramar, FL, this role is remote. However, occasional office visits may be required based on business needs, with advance communication for such requests.

 


Job Description

Opportunity at a Glance
The Walden University L&D team supports over 450 stakeholders within enrollment, advising, and technical (student) support teams. In this position, the Manager of Learning and Development will manage the daily workflow relevant to the design, development, and delivery of training and training resources. Under the guidance of the Director, this individual will support the strategy around performance development, project management/intake, and overall direction of the instructional design team. This individual manages a team of 5 individuals who support the lifecycle of instructional design and development, including coaching development, leadership training, technology/systems training, and other programs and resources relevant to the continued development of colleagues.

Responsibilities

 

  • Manages the Instructional Design function within a Learning and Development team, including Instructional Designers and a Training Coordinator.
  • Manages the workflow of the Instructional Design team, recommending opportunities to shift resources to ensure timely delivery of projects based on expectations of the business.
  •  
  • Acts as a project management consultant and liaison for large-scale projects that span across the instructional design and training specialist teams, with a significant emphasis on transformation initiatives focused on performance development and optimization.
  • Continually evaluates and assesses the effectiveness of all training; makes recommendations for training improvements in collaboration with leadership.
  • Establishes and maintains functional relationships with various institutional departments to identify training opportunities.
  • Leads the content management strategy for the team, ensuring that all training resources and colleague-facing content owned by the L&D team is properly maintained and cataloged.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

  • Organizational Development (or related field) Preferred
  • 4+ years experience operating within a training environment, with a focus on instructional systems design. Required
  • 2+ years supervisory or management experience. Preferred
  • 1+ year project management experience, with a focus on project consultation and management Preferred
  •  Experience within the higher education industry Preferred
  • Proven experience maintaining relationships with multiple stakeholders within a complex business environment.
  • Expertise with the full lifecycle of a learning and development function, with knowledge of the instructional design and development process; adult learning theory; and performance development/management.
  • Experience managing the improvement of employee performance, including creating and tracking measurement criteria and ensuring that training programs are contributing to organizational goals and objectives.
  • Superb track record in developing and executing successful training programs.
  • Exemplary organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work within a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Proficient computer skills required, including Project Management software (e.g. Monday.com).

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $70,696.34 and $108,334.92. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
