Opportunity at a Glance

Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Manager is responsible for managing complex analytic, reporting, and insights needed to support the University’s doctoral students and their capstone progress. As a leader in the area of doctoral data analytics, you and your team will work collaboratively with stakeholders on requests and projects supporting doctoral student capstone progress. You will be responsible for managing access, providing ongoing support to users, and documentation and resources related to PowerBI and data documentation.

To be successful, the Manager will need to have strong business, data, and systems process knowledge used in higher education and partner with leaders to lead discussions to identify opportunities, gather requirements and deliver results and explain complex subjects in easy-to-understand conclusions for a wide audience around data/reporting projects. Along with the business skills, the manager will also need strong technical skills using Power BI and other platforms to solution analytic problems that the team may run into.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Data Analysts which execute data processing and reporting activities for doctoral student progress.
  • Oversee and prioritize student capstone data requests, reporting, and improvement efforts.
  • Manage and develop projects utilizing interactive data visualizations to communicate doctoral student capstone progress.
  • Work collaboratively with university stakeholders on ad-hoc requests, initiatives, and special projects, providing support through data driven insights and system capabilities, on project planning and execution, communication of timelines, and implementation.
  • Provide doctoral student capstone process and content expertise to other departments, including provisioning access, managing and updating PowerBI resources, and end-user support with data systems.
  • Support data-related and user issues, lead troubleshooting and modification efforts to provide resolution.
  • Monitor data requests to ensure compliance with deadline and quality standards.
  • Address research questions and test hypotheses related to doctoral student capstone progress.
  • Manage the integrity of data and related documentation, with focus on efficiency, accuracy, and cleanup efforts.
  • Prepare and present data and reports in a variety of forms to diverse audiences, present at internal conferences when appropriate.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree,  Required.
  • Master's Degree,  Preferred
  • 5 plus years experience managing data and providing data analysis in either a higher education or corporate setting
  • 3 plus year experience with data visualization platforms (e.g., PowerBI)
  • 3 plus year experience with student data platforms (e.g. Banner)
  • Management and/or Supervisory experience
  • Experience operating in an academic, higher education, and/or highly regulated environment. 
  • Proficiency with PowerBI, Student Information Systems (Banner, etc.), and Salesforce. 
  • Exceptional leadership and supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook).

  • Understanding of data collection, analysis, and distribution techniques.

  • Capacity to analyze and interpret large amounts of data.

  • Proven project management experience, with ability to set and meet deadlines. 

  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization. 

  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions without supervision or direction. 

  • Problem-solving skills. 

  • High level of critical thinking skills and attention to detail.

 

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills. 
  • Agility to learn new systems and pilot new technologies and capabilities a plus

 


Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $68637.22 and $124230.14. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
