About Walden University

The Lead, Academic Ops will be responsible for managing data, reporting, and insights in support of the University’s doctoral students and their capstone progress. This position will work with stakeholders on requests and projects supporting doctoral student capstone progress and operations. You will be responsible for managing access, providing ongoing support to users, and documentation and resources related to PowerBI and data documentation. The Lead will need to have strong business, data, and systems process knowledge used in higher education. They will partner with operational leaders to identify opportunities, gather requirements, and deliver results for a wide audience. Along with the business skills, the manager will also need strong technical skills using Power BI and other platforms to solution analytic problems.

  • HYBRID – If you reside within 50 miles of Adtalem offices in Chicago, IL, Addison, IL, Columbia, MD, Minneapolis, MN, and Miramar, FL this role is hybrid, requiring office presence three days a week (Tue, Wed, Thu), with the rest of the workweek spent working from home.

The Lead, Academic Operations will be responsible for managing and growing a suite of existing and new programs within a high growth academic area, the College of Health Sciences. The Lead, Academic Operations will be responsible for ensuring new and total student goals and revenue and EBIT budgets are met, and identifying and developing new opportunities to drive business success for Walden. He/she will evaluate program performance to diagnose problem areas, propose solutions and oversee their implementation. Successful Lead, Academic Operations will be able to maintain both a high level and detailed understanding of the intricacies of each program under his/her management, possess strong leadership qualities and have a track record for success in managing a business line. They are highly professional individuals who demonstrate an ability to communicate interpersonally with a wide range of stakeholders and grasp differing viewpoints clearly. Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead student capstone data requests, reporting, and improvement efforts.
  • Provide support for the university’s doctoral operations and capstone process through access provisioning, Power-BI resources, and end-user support.
  • Lead projects utilizing interactive data visualizations to communicate doctoral student capstone progress.
  • Work collaboratively with university stakeholders on ad-hoc requests, initiatives, and special projects.
  • Support data-related requests and user issues, lead troubleshooting and modification efforts to provide resolution.
  • Manage the integrity of data and supporting documentation, leading efficiency, accuracy, and cleanup efforts.
  • Prepare and present data and reports in a variety of forms to diverse audiences; present at internal conferences when appropriate.
  • Manage Data Analysts which execute data processing and reporting activities for the university’s doctoral operations and doctoral student progress. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
  • Complies with all policies and standard.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree - Required.
  • Master's Degree - Preferred.
  • 3+ years experience managing data and providing data analysis to support business operations objectives. Required.
  • 3+ years experience with data visualization platforms (e.g., Power-BI). Required.
  • Experience with student data platforms (e.g. Banner). Preferred. 
  • Management and/or Supervisory experience. Preferred.
  • Experience operating in an academic, higher education, and/or highly regulated environment. Preferred. 
  • Proficiency with Power-BI, Student Information Systems (Banner, etc.), and Salesforce
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook)
  • Understanding of data collection, analysis, and distribution techniques
  • Capacity to analyze and interpret large amounts of data
  • Proven project management experience, with ability to set and meet deadlines
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions without supervision or direction
  • Problem-solving skills
  • High level of critical thinking skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Agility to learn new systems and pilot new technologies and capabilities a plus

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $53520.9 and $93918.96. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
