GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services (OASIS) at Walden University seeks students currently enrolled in a Walden doctoral program for the position of Graduate Assistant - Peer Tutor in Accounting, Finance, and Math. The peer tutor will support graduate-level students with account and finance course concepts and undergraduate students with intermediate college math course concepts. This individual will deliver tutoring support through individual appointments, small group sessions, or e-tutoring (Q&A feedback via email). The Graduate Assistant - Peer Tutor reports to the Manager of GA Strategy and Support in OASIS. This role is a virtual position requiring 10 hours of work per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this role, the Graduate Assistant, Peer Tutor in Accounting, Finance and Math will:
Provide tutoring in finance, accounting, and Microsoft Excel at basic, intermediate, and advanced levels to graduate-level course-based and competency-based students.
Provide tutoring in intermediate college math concepts to undergraduate students and competency-based students.
Conduct live, scheduled tutoring sessions via WCOnline an online schedule platform, and Zoom.
Devote most weekly hours to tutoring students (individually or group sessions) in both program models, including evenings and weekends, to serve needs of a global student body.
Correspond with students via the tutoring program e-mail role account.
Collaborate with OASIS staff and degree-level faculty and program leaders to create resources to advance student learning of concepts and skills in their courses.
Be available for monthly check-in meetings and group tutoring team meetings.
Commit approximately 40 hours per month (10 hours per week) to this role.
TECHNICAL, MANAGERIAL, and PEOPLE SKILLS REQUIRED:
Prior experience teaching, coaching, or mentoring graduate students in finance and/or accounting.
Superb analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, including strong writing skills for sending in clear, grammatically correct e-mail correspondence written in a professional tone.
Experience working with adult learners is a plus.
Experience teaching or learning in online learning management systems preferred.
Fluency in using MS Excel tools for accounting and finance purposes.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must be an enrolled doctoral student at Walden University with a GPA of 3.5 or above
A master’s degree is required; master’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field preferred
Demonstrated expertise and completed graduate-level finance coursework required
3+ years demonstrated working experience in finance or accounting on a regular basis preferred
Superb knowledge of graduate-level finance and accounting, college-level finance content and courses, and finance-specific and accounting-specific study skills and learning strategies
Understanding and mastery of intermediate college math concepts
Ability to provide positive, constructive feedback to adult students in conversation and in writing.
Ability to adapt to all levels of learners, and approach students with different learning strategies to help them develop their accounting, finance, and math skills is a plus.
Demonstrate that she/he can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
