The Executive Dean of Academics is the primary academic leader of an academic program(s) and is responsible for its development, execution, outcomes, and continuous improvement. The responsibilities include but are not limited to curriculum and course delivery, program quality, program delivery, faculty experience, indirect supervision of faculty via faculty leaders, assistant deans, and associate deans; practicum/clinical/clerkship/field experience oversight, regulatory and accreditation compliance, and the management of student learning experiences; delivery of superior academic support to students enrolled in the program(s); and achieving targeted student retention goals, certification pass rates (if applicable) and graduation pass rates. This role creates and streamlines processes, procedures, initiatives, communications, and training to develop and enhance the program(s).
- Guides faculty and staff in the delivery of the program’s mission, vision and goals, in alignment with the University and College mission, vision, and goals.
- Leads the implementation of Chamberlain’s philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives to students in the program(s).
- Tracks the key academic metrics used to monitor performance of the program(s) and consistently seeks to improve program(s) quality.
- In collaboration with program leadership, ensures appropriate faculty teaching assignments.
- Ensures appropriately credentialed and trained faculty are available to fill program needs and are sufficient in number to maintain established faculty workloads.
- Supports the recruitment, selection, contracting, training, and evaluation of faculty.
- Communicates regularly and effectively with faculty and staff. Creates and maintains a college culture of mutual respect and academic and professional growth.
- Serves as the key leader and communicator for the program(s), working to inspire ongoing improvement of academic quality and the implementation of improved learning methodologies and technologies.
- Responds to questions and concerns from faculty and staff. Coordinates effective, timely and well-communicated resolutions.
- Provides leadership to the department team and supporting teams to ensure collegial relationships and colleague engagement.
- Provides support for course instructional development team in quality improvement initiatives to ensure that all courses are current, of high quality, and meet curricular and course outcomes.
- Works collaboratively with other academic leaders to ensure coordination and consistency of the Universities mission, philosophy and educational outcomes across settings and programs.
- Develops and manages a budget to support program quality.
- Collaborates with course instructional development team to ensure meaningful assessment of student achievement is included in each course.
- Collaborates with Clinical Operations to ensure appropriate practicum/clinical/clerkship/fieldwork sites are available to students enrolled in programs with practicum/clinical/clerkship/fieldwork requirements and oversees arrangements with sites used for practicum/clinical/clerkship/fieldwork work.
- Collaborates with the accreditation and professional regulation team to ensure standards are met, including the timely completion of program information for required reports.
- Responsible for managing concerns, issues, and escalations from all program stakeholders.
- Collaborates with student support personnel to assure delivery of superior student service.
- Participates in industry programs and initiatives to maintain currency.
- Functions as the public face of, and spokesperson for, the program to external stakeholders.
- Serves on the University leadership councils, curriculum committees, community advisory board, and other accreditation or University/College leadership teams as required.
- As appropriate, may serve as academic leader, (chief academic nurse administrator, program director, or similar), for programmatic accreditation, taking full responsibility of the specific standards associated with the corresponding leadership appointment.
- Leads and ensures execution of all program initiatives.
- This position is a designated Campus Security Authority.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with all policies and standards
- PhD or DNP/EdD required.
- Ten (10)+ years experience as a dean, program chair, program director, or other higher education administrator required.
- Experience with curriculum development and curriculum management required.
- Five (5)+ years teaching experience at undergraduate or graduate levels required.
- Experience in online teaching and demonstrated proficiency with online instructional technology required.
- Experience in managing geographically distributed remote teams strongly preferred.
- Ability to use a variety of technology applications that promote student learning and services.
- Ability to make and effectively communicate decisions.
- Ability to motivate, inspire excellence and build consensus.
- Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills, ability to communicate via email and phone effectively and operate remotely.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management, training, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to interact with all levels: students, faculty, leadership, external stakeholders, and staff.
- Strong customer service orientation and customer service skills.
- Ability to lead, direct, inspire, and advise faculty.
- Up to 40% travel.
- Current licensure, certification, or authority to practice in the field of study required if applicable for the field of study required.
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $100,171.61 and $181,034.70. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
