Job Description

The successful candidate will be working closely with other faculty to provide instruction within the EVS and surgical skills program.  This may include communications, medical, and surgical skills labs (including those outside of the EVS program).  The EVS program spans the entire pre-clinical curriculum and includes instruction in basic handling and care of small and large animals, clinical techniques and procedures, and communication skills. Contribution as a course coordinator for surgical skills program is expected. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching: 80%

  • Participation in team-taught laboratory courses:
    • Surgery Lab 1
    • Essential Veterinary Skills(EVS) 1-7 medical, surgical, communications, and shelter medicine labs
    • Surgery Lab 2 ovariohysterectomy lab

Research and Scholarly Activity: 10%

  • Development and assessment of communications within the veterinary curriculum
  • Other research activities that fit within the candidate’s skill set

Service 10%

  • Committees
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Department Head

 


Qualifications

Qualifications

  • A DVM or comparable degree is required.
  • The ideal candidate will have broad expertise in small animal surgery (spay/neuter focused), primary care practice and shelter medicine and will have interest in community service and outreach.
  • Expertise or experience in educational methodologies or model development is preferred.
