Opportunity at a Glance 
 
The Department of Clinical Sciences at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) invites applications for a faculty position for an Equine Clinician.  Rank will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. 

Expect a Variety of The Following 

  • We are looking for an enthusiastic veterinarian to teach in the clinical skills curriculum which complements didactic teaching at RUSVM. Instruction starts with models introducing a variety of skills from injection techniques to casting to abdominocentesis. In later semesters students' progress to equine handling and physical examination, culminating in equine ‘introduction to clinics’ and donkey surgery rotations. 

  • Join our creative and dynamic equine team includes specialists in equine surgery, internal medicine, experienced practitioners and licensed veterinary technicians. We use our experience as clinicians and educators to work together to provide thought-provoking educational experiences to inspire the next generation of equine veterinarians by helping them develop their practical skills.  Clinical work and on-call are a small part of this appointment and are shared equally between the team. 

  • Inspire students to achieve success through development of assessments and modification of the curriculum to create ‘day one ready’ practitioners

  • Provide stimulating, student-focused, delivery of production animal and equine Essential Veterinary Skills (EVS) utilizing multi-modal learning within a collaborative climate.
  • Commitment to student success and continuous learning through formative and summative assessment and curricular modification, with measurable outcomes.
  • Progressively build on students’ skills and knowledge through well-designed practical medical and surgical labs over 7 semesters that culminates with a series of live animal labs in the final semester.
  • A creative and dynamic team who work together to provide thought- provoking educational experiences to inspire the next generation of equine and large animal veterinarians by helping them develop their practical skills.

What is the structure and culture of the team like?

We are a stand-alone veterinary school with a diverse and proactive team focused on collaboration and providing a student and colleague centric environment of care and respect. This role will support both the essential veterinary skills program as well as the large animal division.  You will join a diverse team of practitioners, specialists, credentialed veterinary technicians, and veterinary assistants that work under the guidance of the Division and Department Heads.


Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (or country equivalent) 

  • 3 or more years of clinical experience in equine practice 

  • Further education in an equine specialty highly desired 

  • Previous experience in education highly desired.
