Job Description

Opportunity at a Glance
The position will identify, design and implement processes, business and/or technology solutions and manage change management activities across the Adtalem enterprise-wide Finance organization that will improve operational efficiency and fundamentally transform Finance into a world class organization.  The position will partner with functional owners in Finance, IT leaders and operational leaders within the educational institutions to develop the long term architecture requirements, process improvement plans and implementation programs for those functions to achieve the organization's goals. 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as key leader with global, enterprise-wide understanding of the business and technical financial processes.
  • Lead efforts in integrating the finance organization and implementing synergies related to acquisitions
  • Build relationships with, influence and lead an indirect team of stakeholders.
  • Manage a staff of direct reports responsible for implementing solutions and administration of finance related applications and reporting systems.
  • Evaluate, refine and reinforce consensus around the vision for building a world-class Finance organization, complete with corresponding structure, processes and technology.
  • Serve as a thought leader around requirements and potential future state design for various business processes (such as Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash and Record-to-Report) and shared services team arrangements.
  • Serve as subject matter expert and lead process standardization to ensure compatibility across processes and regions.
  • Leverage analysis and benchmarking results as the basis for focusing improvement priorities and achieving best practices.
  • Provide Finance’s requirements to IT and Supply Management organizations and work collaboratively to achieve delivery deadlines.
  • Build, communicate and manage the project plan to support the transformation journey.  Assist in directing and supporting large transformation initiatives that will include partnering with Operations, Tax, Treasury, Accounting, FP&A and regional/unit Finance leaders.
  • Prioritize the existing portfolio of Finance-related systems investments as related to the vision and project plan.
  • Build, present and sell business cases to justify new investments required to reach the future state.
  • Work with outside consultants and contractors who assist on improvement projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting - CPA Required or
  • Finance - CMA Required or
  • Operations Management/Information Systems Required or
  • Master's Degree Preferred
  • 10+ years Broad Finance and Accounting experience Required and
  • 10+ years Working in international companies with revenues of $1B or greater Required and
  • 10+ years years in education, services, high-growth, fast-paced, dynamic industries. Required and
  • 7+ years years of project experience supporting the Finance function and/or Finance transformation initiatives. Required and
  • Experience implementing and using large scale Financial systems (e.g. SAP, Lawson, Cognos) and data warehouses Required
  • Demonstrated success building and/or leading Finance shared services environments
  • Outstanding process and project management skills including process mapping techniques
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of specific global financial process workstreams and process improvement methodologies (BPR, Six Sigma, Lean)
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls
  • Effective finance and business case development capabilities
  • Effective at driving projects to achieve planned results and delivered on time
  • Intellectual curiosity and the pursuit of continuous improvement
  • Able to build trust and quickly establish credibility with all levels of an organization
  • Innovative and able to think both analytically and conceptually
  • Strong collaborator, negotiator and consensus builder
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $100,171.61 and $175,761.85. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
