We are seeking primarily Industry Professionals to share their knowledge and experience with undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of fields.   

PHIL-347: Critical Reasoning

This writing-intensive course introduces practical and theoretical contexts of logical argument as well as critical reading and reasoning. Students apply information analysis and problem-solving skills to define, convey and defend positions that influence decision-making. Students prepare a range of documents that reflect and/or incorporate principles of sound logic and reasoning.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and provides students with an approved syllabus which includes the terminal course objectives.
  • Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
  • Models effective strategied communications that engage online students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
  • Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.
  • Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
  • Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provide timely feedback to students.

Qualifications

You are encouraged to explore this opportunity if you meet the following criteria:

  • A Master's degree in Philosophy, Ethics, Law, Rhetoric or Theological Studies with 18+ earned graduate credit hours directly in coursework
  • Prior higher education teaching experience is preferred
  • Solid subject matter expertise and outstanding communication skills
  • Excellent motivational and instructional skills to be effective in a non-traditional environment
  • Must be able to work in a collegial manner and facilitate the efforts of diverse groups

Additional Information

Chamberlain Visiting Professor Position - Online:
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected compensation rate for this position is between $850/Earned Credit Hour to $1,950/Earned Credit Hour, depending on the candidate’s education and experience.

Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as type of course taught; experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
