Walden University of Psychology seeks Part-time Contributing Faculty (Remote) in the Undergraduate Psychology Program to instruct content courses in the field they are credentialed to teach as well as instruct foundational courses such as introductory psychology, statistics, and research methodology.
We are presently accepting applications to meet future need in the following areas of specialization:
- Developmental Psychology and/or Clinical Child Development
Experience teaching courses in areas such as child/adolescent development, psychology of gender, learning, cognition, developmental psychopathology.
- Clinical Psychology
Experience teaching courses such as psychological disorders, theories of personality, addictions assessment, addictions treatment, and addictions management. Preference for candidates with expertise in the assessment, treatment, and management of addictions.
- General Psychology and/or Diversity Equity, and Inclusion
Experience teaching undergraduate college students in a variety of psychology courses such but not limited to, motivation and emotion, brain and behavior, health psychology, social psychology, leadership, workplace psychology.
Experience teaching global psychology, cross-cultural psychology, racial and ethnic identity, and/or social justice or courses in related content areas. Preference for candidates with expertise in the content area of diversity, Equity, and inclusion, and/or social justice.
- Forensic Psychology
Experience teaching undergraduate forensic psychology courses in areas such as forensic assessment and forensic evaluation.

Responsilibilies
Training
All new Contributing Faculty Members receive specific training from Walden University in online teaching techniques, use of an electronic learning platform, specifics of the policies, procedures and degree programs of the School or College in which they are going to teach, socialization into the Walden University culture, assessment of academic integrity of student work, and may include the research supervision of scholarly projects.
Course Teaching/Availability:
Faculty Members are assigned a course, which is taught using the Canvas platform and are responsible for interacting with students within this platform. Discussion Boards for classrooms are open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Although postings to the classroom may be done at any time of day, they must be completed in a timely manner in accordance with the Faculty Handbook or other criteria established by Walden University. As such, Faculty Members are expected to be in the classroom a minimum of 4 days per week and responses to student questions must be posted within 48 hours. Faculty Members are required to verify the accuracy of student postings and submissions and to provide feedback and grades to students through Canvas. In addition, Faculty members will publish their availability to students in the classroom. The university suggests regular and predictable availability, such as online office hours or regular online chats.
You are encouraged to explore this opportunity if you have:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Doctoral Degree in Psychology from a regionally accredited college or university
- Minimum 3 years teaching in fully online instructional setting at the undergraduate level required.
- Evidence of continuing scholarly work within the past 5 years.
- Proficient in APA 7th edition.
- Strong research methodology background in quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed methods in research.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Experience as a Subject Matter Expert and developing online courses preferred.
- Are eager to serve students and colleagues with passion, respect, and care
- Commitment to the goals of diversity and social change.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse, non-traditional college students.
- Operate with a sense of responsibility and purpose with the desire to enrich colleagues, students, and the broader community.
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected compensation rate for this position is as follows:
- Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
- Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as type of course taught; experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility. Walden also offers other opportunities for its contributing faculty members, such as dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring.
