Chamberlain College of Nursing seeks Part-Time Nursing Faculty interested in teaching with our BSN Nursing program.
You will be teaching students in the role of facilitator, role model, coach and advisor. Incorporating Chamberlain Care philosophy to educate and embolden diverse nursing professionals in a culture where students and colleagues thrive and cultivate extraordinary nursing graduates.
Part-time professors lead asynchronous discussions and teach 2 synchronous live lectures each week on Wednesdays; one between 7am-12pm Central Time plus one between 5pm-9:30pm Central Time. Professors will be available via email, online conferencing or telephone, to provide support and respond to student's enquiries in a timely manner.
We are presently accepting applications from experienced faculty with experience teaching in the following areas of course specialization:
NR 283 Pathophysiology: This course explores the pathophysiological processes of disease, including clinical manifestations, complications, and variations in wellness. The course examines environmental and lifestyle influences, as well as other risks that affect these processes. Students will learn about the changes in cellular and systemic physiology in medical conditions
NR293 Pharmacology: This course covers the clinical aspects of drug therapy, including the mechanism of action for various drug classifications and their therapeutic uses, with an emphasis on the nursing process, safety, and patient education across the lifespan. Key topics include safe administration, dosage calculation, side and adverse effects, nursing implications, and the role of the nurse as an advocate, educator, and care manager in relation to drug therapy.
Chamberlain University courses follow an 8-week session plan: there are six 8-week sessions each calendar year (Jan-Feb, Mar-Apr, May-Jun, Jul-Aug, Sep-Oct, & Nov-Dec).

Responsibilities:
Course Preparation:
- Provide students with a Chamberlain University approved syllabus that follows the established template and includes terminal course objectives.
- Organize, prepare, and regularly revise and update all course materials.
- Assumes responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads.
Technological Integration:
- Use appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
Communication:
- Model effective oral and written communications that engage students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
- Is available for remediation of students as required or needed.
Course Management:
- Set clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight distribution of various evaluation categories.
- Ensure that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
- Demonstrate consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams and provide timely feedback to students.
- Complete other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
- Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or higher is required
- Unencumbered Compact licensure is required
- Illinois RN licensure will be required to teach all courses
- 2+ years' experience teaching didactic nursing courses for a college or university is required
- Experience teaching nursing Patho & Pharma courses is required
- Teaching experience with an online learning platform such as Canvas is preferred
- Faculty must have requisite subject matter expertise and outstanding communication skills.
- Additional requirements driven by state licensing or accreditation considerations may apply.
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected compensation rate for this position is between $715/Earned Credit Hour to $1,950/Earned Credit Hour, depending on the candidate’s education and experience.
Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as type of course taught; experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
