Job Description

A faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor demonstrates significant leadership within the University by accepting or initiating, as part of the workload, responsibility for activities such as: • Chairing or serving on University committees • Chairing and/ or serving on work groups that contribute to preparation for accreditation visits • Gathering and analyzing data related to course, curriculum and program review to foster continuous quality improvement • Serving as course lead or Subject Matter Expert (SME) • Demonstrates scholarship through the Scholarship of Teaching, Discovery, Application, or Integration congruent with expectations of assigned rank.

  • Serve as content expert for assigned courses and be ultimately responsible for course content.
  • Lead a course introduction and Best Practices Forum every session, in week one (1 or 2) of the course, with all instructors teaching the course
  • Participate in course development and redevelopment as frequently as needed and at a minimum as set in the course development schedule developed by the Executive Dean.
  • Gather, aggregate, analyze and review ongoing feedback from course instructors and students.
  • Analyze course exam statistics after each exam, monitoring question validity and student performance.
  • Review and respond to student exam/quiz challenges, determining if additional credit is needed
  • Seek and review internal and external resources and evidence to strengthen course content and delivery.
  • Incorporate current practice standards into a course within a timely manner.
  • Respond to questions related to the course content from faculty, students, and others.
  • Serve as principle blind reviewer for grade disputes.
  • Monitors student progress across all course sections and uses student data to make course improvements as needed.
  • Review end-of-session scores and comments each session and identify key items/areas of concern. Regularly aggregate this data to analyze trends and results post course changes.
  • Develop training content and resources to support course instructors.
  • Work individually with course instructors from time to time for development, remediation, mentoring and/or training purposes.
  • Monitor the course for needed updating of content, changes required by accreditation standards, and feedback from students, faculty, course reviews, college committees, and other sources.
  • Communicate textbook updates to all parties
  • When major changes are needed in a course, work with PMHNP team to train faculty teaching the revised course.
  • Make periodic changes and improvements in the course in collaboration with the FM/ADoF, other faculty, instructional designers (ID) team, and program dean/director.
  • Prepare course reports at the end of each fiscal year for presentation to the graduate curriculum committee.
  • Respond, research, resolve, and work collaboratively with CID team to make adjustments as needed to the course regarding assignments, textbooks, updates, and any inaccuracies and inconsistencies reported.
  • Work collaboratively with IDs, and the program dean to meet all required deliverables and timelines during course development.
  • Serves as a positive professional role model for students, assisting in their professional/social development.
  • Mentors new faculty members.
  • Commitment to Professional Nursing

  • Performs other duties as assigned

The following Assistant Dean of Faculty (ADOF) responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for ensuring that program courses are staffed with qualified, trained, high-quality instructors.
  • Participates in the recruitment of faculty and ensures that the Talent Acquisition team is aware of faculty recruitment needs.
  • Interviews and selects qualified faculty for the track.
  • Responsible for orienting new faculty and for developing, updating, and implementing faculty orientation materials and processes as needed.
  • Supervises assigned faculty.
  • Evaluates assigned faculty, providing regular and timely feedback and coaching as needed.
  • Prepares, assesses, and communicates faculty performance and faculty qualification metrics to faculty, course leaders, and program leadership.
  • Monitors and reports on faculty workload.
  • Prepares and provides ongoing faculty development to ensure consistent, high-quality faculty performance.
  • Guides faculty regarding student concerns and escalations, academic integrity issues, student absences and performance concerns, assessment, and practicum and preceptor issues.
  • Monitors and enforces faculty completion of expected duties.
  • Tracks faculty qualifications regarding education, certifications, and licensure, and ensures compliance before allowing faculty to teach.
  • Collaborates with Student Services regarding student concerns.
  • Serves as a role model and mentors faculty and students in areas of academic excellence, customer service, collaboration, communication and professionalism.
  • Solicits recommendations from faculty for academic budget.
  • Ensures regular meetings of the faculty to facilitate communication and faculty participation in planning, implementing, and evaluating the curriculum.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing and a doctoral degree either in nursing or field of teaching specialty required.
  • Current advanced practice nurse licensure required.
  • Current National Certification as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
  • Two (2) years of full-time teaching experience required.
  • Experientially prepared to teach assigned courses required.

  • Excellent communication skills along with a high level of initiative and prudent judgment.
  • Must meet all compliance requirements as specified in the Faculty Handbook.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $70,696.34 and $127,957.05. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
