Opportunity at a Glance
This individual will be responsible for, under the direction of the Lead of the Office of Equity and Access (OEA), (1) ensuring equitable processing of requests in the interactive process of accommodations for individuals with disabilities, (2) implementing and conducting training for any student facing colleagues (3) staying current on statutes at federal and state levels (4) collaborating with the Web Accessibility Specialist. This position currently has no direct reports, but will work closely with Adtalem Legal, Human Resources, Regulatory Affairs, Institutional Liaisons to ensure successful accommodation approval and implementation.
Responsibilities
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (504) state and local regulations and relevant compliance standards
- Maintains strict confidentiality with regard to all aspects of student information
- Conducts comprehensive training for all colleagues
- Drafts and Processes accommodation notifications and professor notifications
- Collaborates with attorneys, campuses, and liaisons
- Collaborates closely with the Web Accessibility Specialist to ensure program accessibility standards in the LMS, for communications and implementing approved accommodations
- Creates content for the OEA monthly newsletter
- Provides content and updates for the OEA website
- Serves as resource for faculty
- Obtains necessary ongoing training to stay updated on changes to compliance requirements and processing requests
- Demonstrates professionalism in all interactions and duties
- Maintains cooperative, respectful and supportive relationships with colleagues while fostering an inclusive community
- Expected travel at 20%.

- Bachelor's Degree Required
- 3 years of accommodation coordinator experience required
- Extensive knowledge of barriers to accessibility in education
- The incumbent must possess superior, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- The incumbent will be expected to “hit the ground running,” and must be a self-starter, a solution-finder, and a forward-thinker
- The incumbent must possess not only in-depth knowledge but show higher level thinking capabilities and provide examples of prior accommodation notifications and approvals.
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $41419.01 and $75065.24. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
